From the historic Loreto Abbey Chapel. With the kind cooperation of the Toronto Catholic District School Board, the National Catholic Broadcasting Council presents the Daily TV Mass.

SPEAKER_02

Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I'm Father Peter Turone, and today our homelist is Deacon Michael Carrera. The televising of this mass is made possible by the contribution from an anonymous donor from Mosley, Ontario. This Mass is offered in loving memory of her husband and son, and for the intentions for her granddaughters and family that they may remain strong in faith. Also in thanksgiving for blessings received and for peace throughout the world. Our thanks to our donors for making it possible for tens of thousands of the faithful across Canada, USA, and around the world to begin a new week with the sacred celebration. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Lord be with you.

SPEAKER_07

And with your spirit.

SPEAKER_02

Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries. I confess to Almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do. Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. Therefore I ask, Blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. The Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.

SPEAKER_06

Amen.

SPEAKER_02

Lord have mercy.

SPEAKER_06

Lord have mercy.

SPEAKER_02

Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.

SPEAKER_06

Lord have mercy.

SPEAKER_02

Let us pray. O God, who renew the world through mysteries beyond all telling, grant we pray that your church may be guided by your eternal design and not be deprived of your help in this present age. For our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.

SPEAKER_00

A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah. Thus says the Lord, I am about to create new heavens and a new earth. The former things shall not be remembered or come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I am creating. For I am about to create Jerusalem as a joy, and its people as a delight. I will rejoice in Jerusalem and delight in my people. No more shall the sound of weeping be heard in it, or the cry of distress. No more shall there be in it an infant that lives but a few days, or an old person who does not live out a lifetime. For one who dies at a hundred years will be considered a youth. And one who falls short of a hundred of a hundred will be considered a cursed.

SPEAKER_05

And did not let my foes rejoice over me. Oh Lord, you brought up my soul from shame. Restored me to life from among those gods. I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me. Sing praises to the Lord, for you, his faithful eyes, and give thanks to his holy name. For his eyes, but for a moment, his favor is for a life. We be single for the night. But joy comes with the for me. I will praise you, for you have rescued me. Oh Lord, and be gracious to me. Oh Lord, be my helpless. You have turned my heart into dancing. Oh Lord, my God! I will give thanks to you for everything. I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me. Praise to you, Lord, King of Eternal Gory. Praise to you, Lord, King of Eternal Gory. Seek good and not evil so that you may live, and the Lord will be with you. Praise to you, Lord, King of Eternal Glory!

SPEAKER_01

The Lord be with you. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John. After spending two days in Samaria, Jesus went from the place to Galilee, for Jesus himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in the prophet's own country. When he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, since they had seen all he had done in Jerusalem at the festival, for they too had gone to the festival. Then he came again to Cana in Galilee, where he had changed the water into wine. Now there was a royal official whose son lay ill in Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus had come to Galile Judea to Galilee, he begged he he went and begged him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Then Jesus said to him, Unless you see signs and wonders, you will not believe. The official said to him, Sir, come down before my little boy dies. Jesus said to him, Go, your son will live. The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and started on his way. As he was going down, his slaves met him, and he told him that his child was alive. So he asked them the hour when he began to recover, and they said to him, Yesterday at one in the afternoon, the fever left him. The father realized that this was the hour when Jesus had said to him, Your son will live. So he himself believed along with his whole household. Now this was the second sign that Jesus did after coming from Judea to Galilee. The Gospel of the Lord. You know, friends, I heard a story a couple of years ago and I was captivated by it. Isn't that a good word? To be captivated by something so much so that it draws you in and maybe, just maybe, changes how you look at things. Well, in this story, there was a man who did some not so good things. So he spent some time in prison. Now, while he was in prison, he began to read scriptures and he had a conversion of heart. You could say that the Lord took his stony heart and gave him a heart of flesh. Now, he made a promise to himself that when he is released from prison, he would go back to his hometown, and he would spend some time each day preaching and teaching about Jesus. When he was released from prison, he did exactly that. And for years he could be seen on the street speaking about Jesus to anyone who would listen. Well, there was this young boy who became a young man over the years, and he had heard this man over the years, and one day he was riding his bike and he stopped in front of this man and he said to him, Sir, all these years I have been seeing you speaking about Jesus to anyone that would listen. But have a look around. The world has not changed. Why do you continue to do so? And the man said, Well, you see, boy, I don't speak about Jesus to anyone who would listen to change the world, for only God can change the world. I do so so that the world does not change me. Well, you see, friends, we may fight it, but the world does change us, does it not? Yes, of course it changes us. And many of us remember a time that we had a heart of flesh when it was easier to welcome the stranger, it was easier to turn the other cheek. But then something happened over a number of experiences. The world brought us to our knees, and slowly we could feel our heart of flesh becoming a heart of stone. Now, of course, none of us want this, and so we we pray to the Lord, we plead to the Lord, and like the psalm we just heard, we say, I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me. Yes, friends, it is only the Lord that can rescue us, and as the man pointed out in the story, it is only the Lord that can truly change the world. And as we heard in our opening prayer, the Lord has an has an eternal design to renew the world. Well, what is this eternal design? We need only look any further than our first reading. Where Isaiah prophesizes that there will be a new heaven and a new earth where everything of old will no longer be remembered. Yes, friends, there will be a time of complete restoration. But have a look around. We are not there yet. So what do we do in the meantime? Well, friends, we do not have the power to change the world, and only God can rescue us. So maybe like the man in the story, we have the power to stop the world from changing us. Well, how do we do that? Well, in our first in our um opening prayer opening prayer, we heard that we need to, in our gospel acclamation, that we need to seek what is good and avoid what is evil. Well, how do we do this? Is it possible? Of course, it is possible because it's in our scriptures, so we know that it is possible. But if it is possible, why do we find it so challenging? Well, friends, I believe because many of us have a go big or go home mentality where we believe that we have to do these big spiritual tasks or these big spiritual prayers to maybe change the world or simply to change our families. And then when we do these efforts and we see very little progress, we get discouraged. So instead of having a go big or go home mentality, maybe we could have a start small but stand tall with God mentality. You see, friends, that is what we see in our gospel passage today. Here, Jesus' reputation as divine healer was beginning to spread, and there was this royal official whose son was not doing too well. So he went to Jesus and said to him, Please come and heal my son. Well, Jesus looked at him and said, You will not believe unless you see signs and wonders. In essence, Jesus was saying to him, You have a go big or go home mentality. And then the royal official really doubled down and said, Jesus, please come or my son will not live. And then Jesus said to him, Go, your son will live. And friends, here is the important part. Here is the captivating part. We read in our gospel that the man believed what Jesus said. Yes, yes, he had, he started small, but he stood tall with the Lord, and only afterwards, as he began to go home, did his workers come to him and say that his son's fever had left him. And then the royal official said, When did this happen? Then they said, one o'clock in the afternoon, and he remembered that that was the time that Jesus told him that his son would be healed. And then that further strengthened his faith and the faith of his entire household. You see, friends, he started small but stood tall with God. And then he saw the signs and wonders. And so, friends, we are asked to do the same thing. We cannot change the world, but maybe we can stop the world from changing us. And yes, and in doing so, the Lord can use us as conduits of love and mercy, forgiveness, and hope, where we can co-create with him to truly change the world. I have a friend of mine who tells me a story that when her kids were young, she used to put them in the minivan and drive out of the road, and there was a man, there was a woman who used to work with them who would stand on the porch and she would look at the children as they left in the minivan and she would simply make the sign of the cross. And then my friend and her children who were in grade school at that time would do the exact same thing, such a small gesture. And yet to this very day, these children are now adults in their 20s and 30s. They remember this as a fond memory of their childhood and something that concretely solidifies their faith. Friends, if we do these things, even the smallest of things, in time we may find a restoration of things. Yes, where the Lord takes our stony hearts, he rescues us and gives us a heart of flesh. As yes, as we wait, we wait for joyful hope for the coming of the new heaven and the new earth. And friends, if we do these things, even the smallest of things on a daily basis, maybe once again, if we haven't been for a long time, but yes, maybe once again, we too, you and I, will once again be captivated. There's that word again. Yes, we will be captivated by the word of God. We will be captivated by Scripture, and it will draw us in. Yes, draw us in in such a powerful, powerful magnitude. Draw us in with the power of God's grace. That maybe, just maybe, it will change how we look at things. For all those in our daily TV Mass Prayer Intentions book, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. This month's community prayer is for fathers, grandfathers, and protectors, that they may lead with wisdom and humility, inspired by the quiet faith of Saint Joseph, we pray to the Lord.

Lord, hear our prayer.

SPEAKER_01

By dying to self, we are born to eternal life. In that spirit of self-denial and penance, let us come to our Father in prayer. That all members of the church, especially for our leaders, Pope Leo, and for our bishops, that they may profit richly from the graces that God offers to them in their Lenten duties, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. For the intentions of our sponsors and in thanksgiving for the gift of the Daily TV Mass, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. That the faithful obedience of believers in all nations may attract non-believers to Christ, the source of eternal salvation, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. That we may practice compassion to those in need by giving from our resources, we pray to the Lord.

Lord, hear our prayer.

SPEAKER_01

The daily TV Mass Community Prayer, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. Lord of all creation, hear the prayers we unite with the sacrifice which your son gave us as his new and eternal covenant. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

SPEAKER_02

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. For through your goodness, we have received the bread we offer you. Fruit of the earth, the work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life.

SPEAKER_07

Blessed be God forever.

SPEAKER_02

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. For through your goodness, we have received the wine we offer you. Fruit of the wine, a work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink. Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours will be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.

SPEAKER_06

May the Lord accept the sacrifice by your hands, but for the grace and glory of his name, for our good, good above us, holy church, church.

SPEAKER_02

May we receive, O Lord, we pray, the effects of this offering dedicated to you, so that we may be cleansed from old earthly ways and be renewed by growth and heavenly life through Christ our Lord.

SPEAKER_06

Amen.

SPEAKER_02

The Lord be with you.

SPEAKER_06

And with your spirit.

SPEAKER_02

Lift up your hearts.

SPEAKER_06

We lift to the Lord.

SPEAKER_02

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is his right and just it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks. Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God, we have given your children a sacred time for the renewing and purifying of their hearts, that freed from disordered affections, they may so deal with the things of this passing world as to hold rather to the things that eternally endure. And so with all the angels and saints, we praise you as without end we acclaim.

SPEAKER_05

Holy holy holy God.

SPEAKER_02

And all you have created rightly gives you praise. For through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, by the power and working of the Holy Spirit, you give life to all things and make them holy, and you never cease to gather people to yourself, so that from the rising of the sun to its setting, a pure sacrifice may be offered to your name. Therefore, Lord, we humbly implore you, by the same Spirit graciously make holy, these gifts we are brought to you for consecration, that they may become the body and blood of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, at whose command we celebrate these mysteries. For on the night he was betrayed, he himself took bread, and giving you thanks, he said the blessing, broke the bread, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it. For this is my body, which will be given up for you. In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and giving you thanks, he said the blessing, and gave the chalice to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it. For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith.

SPEAKER_05

We proclaim your death, O Lord, and profess your resurrection until you come again.

SPEAKER_02

Therefore, O Lord, as we celebrate the memorial of the saving passion of our Son, His wondrous resurrection and ascension into heaven, and as we look forward to His second coming, we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice. Look, we pray upon the ablation of our church, and recognize in the sacrificial victim, by whose death you will to reconcile us to yourself. Grant that we who are nourished by the body and blood of your Son, and filled with His Holy Spirit, may become one body, one spirit in Christ. May He make of us an eternal offering to you, so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect, especially with the most blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, blessed Joseph, our spouse, with your blessed apostles and glorious martyrs, and on all the saints, on whose constant intercession in your presence. We rely for unfailing help. May this sacrifice of our reconciliation, we pray, O Lord, advance the peace and salvation of all the world. Be pleased to confirm in faith and charity your pilgrim church on earth, with your servant Leo our Pope and Francis our bishop, the Order of Bishops, all the clergy, and the entire people you have gained for your own. Listen graciously to the prayers of this family, whom you have summoned before you. In your compassion and merciful Father, gather to yourself all your children scattered throughout the world. For departed brothers and sisters, and to all who are pleasing to you at your passing from this life, you've kindly ministered your kingdom. There we hope to enjoy forever the fullness of your glory. Through Christ our Lord, through whom you bestow on the world all that is good. Through him and with him and in him, O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, our glory and honor is yours, forever and ever.

unknown

Amen.

SPEAKER_02

At the Savior's command, informed by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of our church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever. Amen. The peace of the Lord be with you always.

SPEAKER_01

And with your spirit. Let us offer one another the sign of peace.

SPEAKER_05

Have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world.

SPEAKER_02

Behold the Lamb of God. Behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

SPEAKER_07

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you, now and forever. Amen.

SPEAKER_02

Through Christ our Lord. The Lord be with you.

SPEAKER_06

And you are here to earth.

SPEAKER_02

May Almighty God bless you. The Father, in the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

SPEAKER_06

Amen.

SPEAKER_01

Go in peace, glorifying God by your life.

SPEAKER_06

Thanks, Lady God.

SPEAKER_04

Our thanks to our donor for the gift of this Mass.

SPEAKER_06

We gotta be saved the Father Son. We gather with Jesus. We gather with some days.
