Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries. I confess to Almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do. Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. Therefore I ask, Blessed Mary of a virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, pray for me to the Lord our God. The Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, Heavenly King, O God, Almighty Father, Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten Son. Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world. Have mercy on us. You take away the sins of the world. Receive our prayer. You are seated at the right hand of the Father. Have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One. You alone are the Lord. You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. Let us pray. Grant, we pray, Almighty God, that by St. Joseph's intercession, your church may constantly watch over the unfolding of the mysteries of human salvation, whose beginnings you entrusted to his faithful care. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.

A reading from the second book of Samuel. The word of the Lord came to Nathan. Go and tell my servant David when your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your ancestors, I will raise you up your offerings after you who shall come forth from your body. And I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me. Your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. The word of the Lord.

SPEAKER_04

With my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. I declare that your steadfast love is established forever. Your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. His line shall continue forever. You said I have made a covenant with my chosen one. I have sworn to my servant David. I will establish your descendants forever and build your throne for all generations. His line shall continue forever.

SPEAKER_02

But through the righteousness of faith. For this reason, the promise depends on faith. In order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his descendants, not only to the adherents of the law, but also to those who share the faith of Abraham. He is the father of all of us. As it is written. Abraham believed in the presence of the God who gives life to the dead and calls into existence. These are things that do not exist. Hoping against hope, Abraham believed he would come the father of many nations according to what was said. So numerous shall your descendants be. Therefore, his fate was reckoned to him as righteousness.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke. Assuming that he was in the group of travelers, they went a day's journey. Then they started to look for him among their relatives and friends. When they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem to search for him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said to him, Child, why have you treated us like this? Look, your father and I have been searching for you in great anxiety. He said to them, Why were you searching for me? Did you not know that I must be in my father's house? But they did not understand what he said to them. Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was obedient to them. The Gospel of the Lord. When we meditate on the fifth joyful mystery, we meditate on today's gospel. So Jesus was traveling with a caravan going to the temple, and then after they had worshipped, so they had gone back. Now, Jesus would have either traveled usually with the women, and there would be a different caravan than that where the men were going. So this helps us to understand how it's possible that Joseph thought that Jesus was with Mary, and Mary thought that Jesus was with Joseph. So in the midst of the confusion, once they stop after a day's journey, they find that he isn't with them. So what happens? Well, they are traveling, there's three days of anxiety, so of deep anxiety. They're worried about him. So imagine the thoughts that are going through the minds of the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph. You know, the Father chose me to care for his son, and yet I can't, I've lost him. So when they get there, everything we hear is according to Mary's perspective, because she would have recounted this to Saint Luke, the evangelist. So the Lord is there, and he's asking questions, he's listening, and everyone is amazed at what is he what he's saying. And he's 12 years old. He's not yet an adult, but he's close to it, at least according to Jewish tradition. So our Lady goes to him and says, You know, son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety. So Mary acknowledges that Joseph is the adoptive but the real father of Jesus. And this explains to us how Jesus again fulfills the prophecy that he would be seated on the eternal throne of David. Because Joseph is the great patriarch. He is the heir of the kingdom of David. Even though he's materially poor, he's still in line of that inheritance. So by taking Jesus as his own son by marrying the Virgin Mary, what happens is that now he transfers his everything that he belongs by right to him, now to Christ. The question, the answer that Jesus gives is quite interesting because he says, Why were you looking for me? He wasn't being difficult. He was asking a question and it with a deep innocence. He says, Did you not know that I must be in my father's house? So what we see here is that even though Jesus begins his public ministry at 30 years of age, already, as a little boy, right, as his child of 12, he already has a full understanding of his mission. Even though he hasn't received the Holy Spirit as he's going to receive at his baptism, again at 30 when he goes off, but he already knows his purpose and he wants to spend all his time with his heavenly father. So you see that there's this shift. So now he's cognizant of the fact that he is the only the son of the Most High, but he still has Joseph as his adopted father and Mary as a mother. So they're meditating and they don't completely understand what's happening. But you can imagine the flashes that they're having all the way back to when Simeon spoke to them at the temple during the presentation. So they have to adjust to the fact that Jesus is now changing inwardly, right? He's now moving in another direction. And the challenge for Joseph and for the Virgin Mary is that they have to start to learn to let him go. And this is the challenge for all parents. We can forget in our daily lives that every child is a gift from God. The child doesn't belong to the parents. Yes, it comes from the parents, generated from the love between the father and the mother, absolutely. But the child, even though, yes, is from the parents, is ultimately the gift from God. And therefore, each mother, each father has to learn to let go of the child and to teach the child, as well as Joseph did and Mary, to that the child could put God, the father, and the will of God at the center of their lives. It's not an easy thing. And this is St. Joseph did such an incredible job of doing this in his mission. So now what about how does this apply to us? Well, there are many parents that are suffering. They wish that their parents, their children rather, would spend all their day in church seeking the will of God. Rather, they're lost and going to different places. Accept the church. Turn to Joseph. Go to Joseph, he will help. Perhaps maybe you're devout, but you see your child has a vocation, but you get you feel like you don't want them to do this. You can be an obstacle to them, to God's will. You don't want to do that. Go to Joseph. Pray to him and ask that he reveal to your children and to yourself what is it that they're looking for, what their vocation, the reason why God created them. And the third thing, well, perhaps this isn't an issue for us, but maybe inside we feel like we've we don't have that relationship with Jesus that we had before. We've lost the sense of the presence of God. Go to Joseph. Ask that he can help us to grow in faith and trust in the Lord. And he will help us. Every time I've turned to him, he's never failed me. He's a good father and he loves us. And he will provide. He will provide a way. So I encourage you, go to Joseph, pray. One time I prayed a 30-day devotion to St. Joseph. It's called the Holy Cloak Devotion. I was at the Newman Center. We had to do a rest to restore the church. Didn't have any money. At the end of the 30 days, shortly thereafter, I got a phone call saying you received the full estate to pay for the entire project. At the end of it, I found this beautiful statue in Quebec and had it mounded on the wall. He loves us because he loves his son, and he wants us to be as close as possible. So go to Joseph and pray to him, and he will lead you to Jesus. Let us now profess our faith. I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who is conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. By dying to ourselves, we are born to eternal life. In that spirit of self-denial and penance, let us come to our Father in prayer. The response is Lord, hear our prayer. Lord, hear our prayer. For all those in our daily TV Mass Prayer Intentions book, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. This month's community prayers for fathers, grandfathers, and protectors that they may lead us with wisdom and humility, inspired by the quiet faith of Saint Joseph. We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. Lord of all creation, hear the prayers we unite in the sacrifice which your Son gave us as his new and eternal covenant. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

unknown

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation. For through your goodness, we are received the bread we offer you, the fruit of the earth, and the work of human hands. It will become for us the bread of life.

SPEAKER_05

Blessed be God forever.

SPEAKER_00

Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation. For through your goodness, we have received the wine we offer you. The fruit of the vine, a work of human hands, you'll become our spiritual drink. Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God the Almighty Father.

SPEAKER_05

May the Lord accept a sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of the saints, for our willingness of all this holy church.

SPEAKER_00

We pray, O Lord, that just as Saint Joseph served with loving care your only begotten Son, born of the Virgin Mary, so we may be worthy to minister with a pure heart at your altar through Christ our Lord.

SPEAKER_07

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

The Lord be with you.

SPEAKER_07

And we rejoice.

SPEAKER_00

Lift up your hearts. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just it is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks. Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God, on the solemnity of Saint Joseph, to give you fitting praise to glorify you and bless you. For this just man was given to you a spouse to the Virgin Mother of God, set as a wise and faithful servant, in charge of your household, to watch like a father over your only begotten Son, who was conceived by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit, our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him the angels praise your majesty. Dominions, adore, and powers tremble before you. Heaven and the virtues of heaven and the blessed seraphim worship together with exaltation. May our voices we pray join with theirs in humble praise as we acclaim.

SPEAKER_04

Holy, holy, holy Lord God of oce.

SPEAKER_00

You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the do fall, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion. He took bread and giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it. For this is my body, which will be given up for you. In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and once more giving thanks, he gave it to his. Disciples saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it. For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith.

SPEAKER_04

We proclaim your death, O Lord, and profess your resurrection until you come again.

SPEAKER_00

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo, our Pope, and Francis, our bishop, and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all have died in your mercy. Welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, O Blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles, with Saint Andre Bassett, and all the saints who pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ. Through him and with him and in him, O God Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours for ever and ever.

SPEAKER_05

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

At the Savior's command, informed by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all the stress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

SPEAKER_06

For the great kingdom, the power, the glory, and yours now and forever.

SPEAKER_00

Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on her sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever.

SPEAKER_06

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

The peace of the Lord be with you always.

SPEAKER_06

And with your spirit.

SPEAKER_00

Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

SPEAKER_01

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Defend with unfailing protection, O Lord, we pray, the family of nourished with food from this altar, as they rejoice at the solemnity of Saint Joseph, and graciously keep safe your gifts among them through Christ our Lord.

SPEAKER_05

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

The Lord be with you.

SPEAKER_05

And with your spirit.

SPEAKER_00

May Almighty God bless you. The Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Go in peace.

SPEAKER_03

Our thanks to our donors for the gift of this Math.

SPEAKER_06
