SPEAKER_04

Welcome to the celebration of the Sunday TV Mass on the solemnity of the resurrection of the Lord on this Easter Sunday. I am Father Vijay Amir Taraj. Today's Mass is being offered through the support of the Archdiocese of Toronto for the intentions of all those in our daily TV Mass community who join us each day. You are faithful disciples of our Lord who believe that through the Mass we continue to gather as a community to participate in the mystery of the Passion, death, and resurrection of Christ. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Sisters and brothers, as we gather with joy to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, we turn to God and seek God's mercy. Lord Jesus, you are life and love. Lord have mercy. Christ Jesus, you are word and truth. Christ have mercy. Lord Jesus, you are light and peace. Lord have mercy. May Almighty God have mercy on us. Forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life. Glory to God in the highest. And on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you. We bless you. We adore you. We glorify you. We give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, Heavenly King, O God Almighty Father, Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten Son. Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer. You are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. Let us pray. O God, who on this day, through your only begotten Son, have conquered death and unlocked for us the path to eternity. Grant we pray that we who keep the solemnity of the Lord's resurrection may through the renewal brought by your Spirit rise up in the light of life through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles, Peter began to speak. You know the message that spread throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee, after the baptism that John announced, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. How he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. We are witnesses to all that he did, both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree. But God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear not to all the people, but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses, and who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commanded us to preacher to the people and to testify that he is the one ordained by God as a judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him. That everyone who believes in him receives a forgiveness of sins through his name.

SPEAKER_07

Let us rejoice and be glad. Oh give thanks to the Lord for his good. Let it rest his status love and does forever. The right hand of the Lord has valiant live. I shall not die, but I shall live and recount the deeds of the Lord. Let us rejoice and be glad.

A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Colossians. Brothers and sisters, if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above. Where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory. The word of the Lord.

So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him. Then Peter and the other disciples set out and went toward the tomb. The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came following him and went into the tomb. He saw the linen wrappings lying there, and the cloth that had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the linen wrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple who reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed, for as yet they did not understand the scripture that he must rise from the dead. The gospel of the Lord. Now, sisters and brothers, as a community of today, we gather together with great joy to celebrate the most important feast of our Christian faith. The feast of life conquering death, light conquering darkness, hope conquering despair, and joy conquering sorrow in and through the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today's gospel tells us that Mary Magdalene came to the tomb while it was still dark, yet it is precisely there, in that place of darkness, a space where death seemed to have its final word. God speaks the most clearest and hopeful words. He is not here, he is risen. Now the resurrection is not simply something that happened long ago, or it is not simply a happy ending to a tragic story. Rather, it is God's way of saying, that God's power, God's life, and God's light is stronger and more powerful than any darkness that we or our world can ever experience. And Easter also tells us that no tomb is sealed forever. Not the tombs of our fear, our past regrets, or our grief, or our doubts, or our weariness that comes from our life. God's spirit enters every one of these places and breathes new life, even where we thought no life is ever possible. Now, sisters and brothers, resurrection is not only something that we believe in, it is not something we just celebrate on our Easter Sunday as a faith community. It is something that we each of us are invited to live as we journey through life, as we hear again and again, we are a resurrection people, we are Easter people. And each time we forgive someone, each time we say a kind word to someone, each time we offer our comforting words to someone, and each time we bring hope into people's lives, what we do is we breathe new life, we bring restoration, and we bring resurrection in someone else's life and also into our own lives. And that is our mission, and that is our Easter mission as Christians, as believers in the risen Lord. It won't be an understatement for me to say that there is so much darkness in our world today: wars, violence, divisions, racial tensions, political turmoil, just to name a few. We can either be overwhelmed with everything that is going around us in our world, or we can simply strive to bring hope and life into our own corners of our world, in our families, in our communities to start with. So let us go forth today with deepened faith in our risen Lord, and let us go forth today with renewed hope, fully aware that whenever we think that the story is over, God is already writing something new. Alleluia. Let us now together profess our faith in God. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. Sisters and brothers, now let us offer our prayers to God through our Lord Jesus Christ. For all those in our daily TV Mass, prayer intentions book, we pray to the Lord. And for all of us celebrating this Mass on this Easter Sunday, that our hearts may be filled with the peace and joy of the risen Lord. We pray to the Lord. And for those who might be experiencing darkness in their lives at this time, that the light of Christ may shine on them, we pray to the Lord. Loving God, we lift up all of these prayers and we ask you to grant them through Christ our Lord. Blessed are you, Lord God, of our creation, for through your goodness we have received the bread we are for you. It will become for us our spiritual dream. Exultant with paschal gladness, O Lord, we offer the sacrifice by which your church is wondrously reborn and nourished through Christ our Lord. Amen. The Lord be with you. Lift up your hearts. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is truly right and just our duty and our salvation at all times to acclaim you, O Lord, but on this day above all, to Lord You yet more gloriously, when Christ our Passover has been sacrificed. For He is the true Lamb who has taken away the sins of the world. By dying he has destroyed our death, and by rising restored our life. Therefore, overcome with paschal joy, every land, every people exalts in your praise, and even the heavenly powers, with the angelic hosts, sing together the unending hymn of your glory as they acclaim.

SPEAKER_07

Holy holy, holy Lord God of host heaven and earth are full of your glory.

SPEAKER_04

You are indeed holy, O Lord, the found of all holiness. Make holy therefore these gifts we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dew fall, so that they may become for us the body and the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed, and he entered willingly into his passion, he took bread and giving thanks broke it, and he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this all of you and eat of it, for this is my body which will be given up for you. In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, and once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith.

SPEAKER_07

We proclaim your death, O Lord, and profess your resurrection until you come again.

SPEAKER_04

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with Leo, our Pope, and Francis, our bishop, and all the clergy and the people you have gathered. Remember also all our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection. And all who have died in your mercy, welcome them into the light of your face and have mercy on us all. We pray that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, our spouse, with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and we praise and glorify you through your Son Jesus Christ. Through him and with him and in him, O God Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we now dare to pray. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us a day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus Christ, you set your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever. The peace of the Lord be with you always. And with your spirit.

SPEAKER_07

Have mercy on us. Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world.

SPEAKER_04

Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those who are called to the supper of the Lamb.

SPEAKER_03

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.

SPEAKER_04

Let us pray. Look upon your church, O God, with unfailing love and favor, so that, renewed by the paschal mysteries, she may come to the glory of the resurrection through Christ our Lord. The Lord be with you. May Almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Go in peace, hallelujah, hallelujah.

SPEAKER_06

Thanks be to God, hallelujah, hallelujah.

SPEAKER_03

Our thanks to our donors for the gift of this month.

SPEAKER_05
