Fr. John Bertao
From the historic Loreto Abbey Chapel. With the kind cooperation of the Toronto Catholic District School Board, the National Catholic Broadcasting Council presents the Daily TV Mass.
SPEAKER_08Hello and welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I'm Father John Berteo. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contribution from the Osler family from Pickering, Ontario. This Mass is offered for John and Terry's 29th wedding anniversary for the living and deceased members of the Glutay, Lakmanac, Osler, and Godly families and friends. In thanksgiving for many blessings received, for the gift of faith in this life, and in gratitude for the Daily TV Mass. May the Lord grant us his grace and salvation. Amen. Our thanks to the Osler family for making it possible for tens of thousands of faithful across Canada, the USA, and the world to share in the celebration that we begin with the sign of our salvation in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
unknownAmen.
SPEAKER_08The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the life of God, and the community of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
SPEAKER_07And with your spirit.
SPEAKER_08Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries. I confess to Almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned. In my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and what I have failed to do. Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. Therefore I ask, Blessed Mary and the Virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of goodwill. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, Heavenly King, O God Almighty Father, Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten Son. Lord God, Son of the Father. You take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer. You are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in the glory of God the Father. Amen. Let us pray. O God, who give constant increase to your church by new offspring, grant that your servants may hold fast in their lives to the sacrament that they have received in faith. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
unknownAmen.
SPEAKER_00A reading from the Acts of the Apostles. When the day of Pentecost had come, Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd. People of Judea and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and listen to what I say. Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with deeds of power, wonders, and signs that God did through him among you, as you yourselves know. This man handed over to you according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of those outside the law. But God raised him up, having freed him from death, because it was impossible for him to be held in its power. For David says concerning him, I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken. Therefore, my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced. Moreover, my flesh will live in hope. For you will not abandon my soul to hate us, or let your holy one experience corruption. You have made known to me the ways of life. You will make me full of gladness with your presence. I may say to you confidently of our ancestor David, that he both died and was buried. And his tomb is with us to this day. Since he was a prophet, he knew that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would put one of his descendants on his throne. Foreseeing this, David spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, saying, He was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh experience corruption. This Jesus God raised him, and of that all of us are witnesses. Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received him from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit. He has poured out this that you both see and hear. The word of the Lord.
SPEAKER_03I say to God, you are my life. I have no God apart from you. It is my chosen portion, and my God my heart. Keep me safe. In the night also my heart instructs me. I keep me for me because he is at my right hand, I shall not be keep me safe, you my sweet let us rejoice.
SPEAKER_08Everything from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. After Mary Magdalene and the other Mary had heard the message of the angel that Jesus had been raised from the dead, they left the tomb quickly with fear, with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them and said, Greetings. And they came to him and took hold of his feet and worshipped him. Then Jesus said to them, Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee. There they will see me. While the women were going, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests everything that had happened. After the priests had assembled with the elders, they advised a plan, they devised a plan to give a large sum of money to the soldiers, telling them, You must say. His disciples came by night and stole him away while we were asleep. If this comes to the governor's ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble. So they took the money and did as they were directed, and this story still told is still told among the Jews to this day. The Gospel of the Lord. Yet when we grieve, we hurt. And sometimes the hurt is only realized when we make the funeral arrangement. Some of you have already experienced that, I'm sure. At that time, we want to look for ways to say goodbye and to select the best spot in the cemetery, depending, of course, on the financial circumstances. I personally was faced with having to arrange all of the above in 1995 when both a close friend of mine and my favorite, one of my favorite aunts, died, and I was in charge of making the arrangements. To them, peace be with you. Don't be afraid. Imagine. If they had not been faithful to the risen Christ, especially to his command, to preach the good news to the church, we, according to my source, the church would not exist today. They started proclaiming proclaiming. Their bold, courageous action made the global impact around that time in the world as they knew. Like the women who encountered Jesus, all of us are called to be missionary disciples and to proclaim the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We may never know the impact of our words of loving encouragement or works of justice and charity, but we can trust that God receives our efforts and multiplies them for our good and the good of all. All we have to do is try our best to do that. A final question. When they resolved to not believe that Jesus had risen, and they bribed the guards in the hope of keeping the others from believing. Go figure, it's still to this day. What do you think? Dear friends in Christ, let us always proclaim that Jesus is risen. Jesus is risen from the dead. That's so important for us and for our faith. And at this time of the year, we can proudly say He is risen. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia. And I leave you with a short prayer. Lord Jesus, may we always live in the joy and hope of the resurrection and never lose sight of its truth in our lives. Amen. Together we pray for all of those in our Daily TV prayer intentions book. We pray to the Lord.
SPEAKER_07Lord, hear our prayer.
SPEAKER_08For the month of April, our community prays that all who are burdened by grief or discouragement may be uplifted by the light of the risen Christ and renewed in hope. We pray to the Lord.
SPEAKER_07Lord, hear our prayer.
SPEAKER_08For more vocations to the priesthood of Jesus Christ to serve the church, we pray to the Lord.
SPEAKER_06Lord, hear our prayer.
SPEAKER_08For all who are grieving the loss of a loved one, may your faith in everlasting life with Jesus be of consolation to you. We pray to the Lord.
SPEAKER_07Lord, hear our prayer.
SPEAKER_08And for all who have gone before us, may they rest in peace. We pray to the Lord.
SPEAKER_05Lord, hear our prayer.
SPEAKER_08For your own personal needs and intentions, especially growth in faith in the resurrection of Jesus, we pray to the Lord.
SPEAKER_05The Lord, hear our prayer.
SPEAKER_08All of these we offer them to Jesus through Mary, as together we pray, Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for our sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen. Through the mystery of this water and wine, we are going to share in the divinity of Christ, who humble themselves to share in our humanity. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation. For if you receive the wine we offer you, free to divine and work of human hands, it will become for us our spiritual drink. Blessed we are with humble spirit and contrary heart. May we accept it by you, O Lord, and they are sacrificing this sight to say pleasing to you, Lord God. Lord, wash away my iniquity and cleanse me from my sins. Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.
SPEAKER_07May the Lord accept the sacrifice of your hands for the praise and glory of his name. For our good and all the space and holy church.
SPEAKER_08Accept graciously, O Lord, we pray the offerings of your peoples, they're renewed by confession of their name and by baptism, they may attain on them the happiness. Through Christ our Lord.
SPEAKER_07Amen.
SPEAKER_08The Lord be with you.
SPEAKER_07And with your spirit.
SPEAKER_08Lift up your hearts.
SPEAKER_07We lift them up to the Lord.
SPEAKER_08Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just truly right and just our duty and our salvation, always in every word to acclaim you, Lord, but on this day to lodge you yet more gloriously, when Christ at Passover has been sacrificed. For he is the true Lamb who has taken away the sins of the world. By dying he has destroyed our death. By rising restored our life. Therefore, overcome with bascal joy. Every land, every people exalts in your praise, and even the heavenly powers with angelic hosts seem together the unlending hymn of your glory as they acclaim.
SPEAKER_03God of your God is he who comes in.
SPEAKER_08You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts we pray, by sending down your spirit upon them like the do fall, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread, and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it. For this is my body, which will be given up for you. For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many, for the forgiveness of sins. The mystery of faith.
SPEAKER_03We proclaim your death and profess your resurrection until your command.
SPEAKER_08Therefore, as we celebrate the memory of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the child of salvation, giving thanks that you felt us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. How we pray that by taking of the body and blood of Christ we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world, and bring you to the fullness of charity, together with Leo Pope, Francis our Bishop, and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy, welcome them into the light of your face. Mercy on us all, we pray, that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the Blessed Joseph, our spouse, with the Blessed Apostles, and all the saints who please you throughout the ages, we may merit to be coherent to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ. Through him and with him and in him. O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours for ever and ever.
unknownAmen.
SPEAKER_08At the Savior's command, informed by divine teaching, we're there to say, Our Father, who worked in heaven, our name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, you pray from every evil. Gracious you grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all the stress, as we wait the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom and the power and the glory of yours. Amen. Lord Jesus Christ, to say to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church. And grace you want to be peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever.
SPEAKER_06Amen.
SPEAKER_08The peace of Christ be with you always.
SPEAKER_06And with your spirit.
SPEAKER_08Think of someone you want to be at peace with. Wish them a happy Easter and peace.
SPEAKER_03Of us, of mercy. Of merts.
SPEAKER_08Behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you feel. But only say the word.
SPEAKER_01I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.
SPEAKER_08Let us pray. May the grace of this paschal sacrament abound in our minds, we pray, O Lord, and make those that you have set on the way of eternal salvation worthy of your gifts through Christ our Lord. The Lord be with you.
SPEAKER_07And with Lord Spirit.
SPEAKER_08Our massive and celebrated go forth in the peace of Christ.
SPEAKER_04Thanks be to God.
SPEAKER_08Happy Easter.
SPEAKER_02Our thanks to our donors for the gift of this Mass.
