SPEAKER_04

From the St. Ignatius Chapel at the Manresa Jesuit Spiritual Renewal Center in Pickering, Ontario. The National Catholic Broadcasting Council presents the Daily TV Mass.

SPEAKER_02

Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I'm Father Peter Turone. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contribution from a family who are prisoners at St. Clement Parish in Etobicoke, Ontario. This Mass is offered for their daughter's birthday and thanksgiving for blessings received and for world peace. On behalf of all the faithful across Canada and those around the world gathered for this celebration, we thank our donor family for the gift of the Mass. Today, we celebrate the missionary vocation to which every baptized person is called and is missionaries to the nations. They are sent by Christ to proclaim the gospel boldly, carrying hope, mercy, and faith to all. This call flows from our encounter with the risen Lord and is lived through witness, service, and evangelization, whether in daily life or in distant lands. Let us pray for missionaries near and far for courage in the face of challenges and for all the baptized to embrace their part in this mission. Let us now turn to the Blessed Virgin Mary with our prayer for vocations.

SPEAKER_00

Blessed Mary, Mother of the Church and Mother of Vocations, we turn to you as we seek to follow your Son's call. In a world filled with uncertainty and confusion, guide us to become pilgrims of hope, embracing our vocations as journeys of love and service. Intercede for us that we may respond generously to God's invitation, trusting in his providence and sharing his light with all. Amen.

SPEAKER_02

We now begin the daily TV Mass praying for missionaries and for all who are sent to proclaim the gospel through their lives today. In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. The Lord be with you.

SPEAKER_08

And in your spirit.

SPEAKER_02

Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries. I confess to Almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do. Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. Therefore I ask Blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, Heavenly King, O God Almighty Father, Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world. Have mercy on us. You take away the sins of the world. Receive our prayer. You are seated at the right hand of the Father. Have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One. You alone are the Lord. You alone are the Most High Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. Let us pray. O God, who raised up Saint Mark, your evangelist, and endowed him with the grace to preach the gospel. Grant we pray that we may so profit from his teaching as to follow faithfully in the footsteps of Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.

Amen.

A reading from the first letter of Peter. Beloved, all of you must clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another. For God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you. Discipline yourselves, keep alert, like a roaring lion, your adversity, the devil, prowls around, looking for someone to devour. Resist him, steadfast in your faith, for you know that your brothers and sisters in all the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering. And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen. Through Sylvanus, whom I consider a faithful brother, I have written this short letter to encourage you and to testify that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it. Your sister church in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you greetings, and so does my son Mark. Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ. The word of the Lord.

SPEAKER_05

Your faithfulness is as firm as love. Your faithfulness in the assembly of the laws. For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord? Who among the heavenly bees is like the we'll see the course of being people festival shot who are called in the light of your countersort in your ideas for using We preach a Christ who is crucified. He is the power and the wisdom of God Hallelujah.

SPEAKER_02

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark. After rising from the dead, Jesus appeared to the eleven and said to them, Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation. The one who believes and is baptized will be saved, but the one who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe. By using my name they will cast out demons, they will speak in new tongues, they will pick up snakes in their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them. They will their hands on the sick, and they will recover. So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And the eleven went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere. Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole of creation. One of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, one of the fruits that He presents to us in the Second Vatican Council, is to remind all the faithful, all the baptized, that we share, we all of us are missionaries, and we share in the missionary vocation of the church to bring the good news of salvation brought through Jesus Christ to all people. I was blessed to have been sent to Mongolia as a missionary several years ago. And after all my studies and work and everything else, and to be able to arrive at literally at the other side of the world was the greatest possible blessing that I could have experienced. But it was very different than what I had thought of prior to my departure. The words of Jesus saying to go out to the ends of the earth is truly a great gift, to be able to know and to see how our lives, or you're trying to do, what Jesus Himself commanded in Scripture. And many men and women have been called, are called, and will be called to this great vocation. But when you go to a new country, when you go to a place where perhaps they have not yet heard of Jesus Christ, there's an attitude or a disposition that the Lord wants us to have. And I remember arriving there and meeting a missionary who'd been there for a long time. And the first thing he said to me was, look, he says, before you come, you arrived here, and yes, you have this vocation to share your faith in Jesus Christ with people here in this country. He said, but the first thing is to remember that the Lord called you to himself. So God calls every missionary, calls everyone to himself, and he goes, if he calls you so far away from your home, it's because he expects your relationship with him to deepen. So the further away you go from home, the deeper you have to go in your relationship. And having a strong prayer life in our community, we spend hours in adoration every day and everything being fed from the Eucharist, it was so important. And the experience was truly a big blessing. And there are many stories. One of them was that how we need to have humility. So we heard this in the first reading. So St. Peter says, look, clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another. So after having all the studies and everything else and arriving there, and then our church was a tent and the desert, and it was the first Sunday, and I was trying to learn a few of the words in Mongolian, so it was very difficult. Jesus says that they will speak new languages, speak in new tongues. But I have to tell you, when you study for three hours every day for three years, and you're still not able to express yourself, it can be frustrating. But there's a lot of humility that's required there. But I remember uh the kids were fascinated by us. So as we just finished mass and I'd gone outside, so the kids were running up to me, and so they were asking me questions. I didn't understand anything they were saying, and then they were grabbing the hair off my arms and they were saying, Oh, look, you're a goat. You look like a goat. And then they were giggling, and then they were trying to ask me questions. I was trying to respond with the ten words I knew in Mongolian, and with so much patience, they were trying to correct my Mongolian and trying to explain how to speak their language. And even though it's a difficult and a beautiful language, the language that people really understand, again, is presence and testimony. And that's the hardest thing, but it's the most effective thing as well. So, in the experience of the people coming to the mission and then listening to the other missionary stories, we heard so many beautiful examples of people coming to Christ. And there's one in particular that I find very powerful. It was from my own life, and again, it's a sign of the humility of God and the humility that the Lord wants us to have, whether we go overseas or even at work, at home, at school, wherever we are. There was a woman, so she her idea of God was a God, this being who needed to be placated, so this spirit who would punish them for anything that they did that was wrong. So because of the belief or the common belief in that specific culture, if you were suffering, it was because of something you had done in a previous life. Of course, there's only one life, there's no reincarnation. So this broken woman, this beautiful woman who was suffering so much, was understood by Christ. So when she walked into the chapel, one of the missionaries at the time explained to us that she had walked in and she had looked at this crucifix that was hanging over the altar. And when she saw Jesus crucified, she said, Him I understand. He understands me, and I understand him. So the Lord didn't come with his power and might, but his power was actually hidden in his suffering, in his cruci, in his crucifixion. And that experience led her to seek baptism. And she's a member of the community, and many people realize that as well. So it is a great blessing to be able to share one's faith, but the Lord always wants us to do it, whether again we're in another country or at home, with great humility. If we do it with humility, as Jesus himself did when he preached, then we'll be more effective in convincing people of the truth of who Jesus Christ is and his plans for them as well. We celebrate the missionary vocation being sent forth to proclaim the gospel to the ends of the earth. May all the baptized Christians embrace their call to mission, sharing Christ's light wherever they are. For all those named in our daily TV Mass Prayer Intentions book, especially those submitted for prayers for vocations, may God strengthen them in discernment and fill them with courage. We pray to the Lord. Lord hear our prayer. For missionary vocations, that many may be sent to proclaim the gospel boldly, bringing hope to the nations. We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. For the month of April, our community prays that all those who are burdened by grief or discouragement may be uplifted by the light of the risen Christ and renewed in hope. We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. For persecuted Christians, that they may remain steadfast in faith, find protection and consolation, and bear witness to Christ amid suffering. We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. Most blessed Virgin Mary, star of evangelization, hear our prayers for missionaries near and far. Carry them to your Son, that the gospel may spread through their witness in love through Christ our Lord.

SPEAKER_08

Amen.

SPEAKER_02

The fruit of the earth and work of human hands, you'll become for us the bread of life. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation. For the fruit of goodness, we are receiving the wine we offer you. The fruit of the vine, a work of human hands, you will become our spiritual reaction. Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God the Almighty Father. As we venerate the glory of Saint Mark, we offer you, Lord, the sacrifice of praise and humbly beseech you that your church may always persevere in the preaching of the gospel through Christ our Lord.

SPEAKER_07

Amen.

SPEAKER_02

The Lord be with you.

SPEAKER_08

And with your spirit.

SPEAKER_02

Lift up your hearts. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just it is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God through Christ our Lord. For you have built your church to stand firm on apostolic foundations, to be a lasting sign of your holiness on earth, and offer all humanity your heavenly teaching. Therefore, now and for all ages unending, with all the host of angels, we sing to you with all our hearts, crying out as we acclaim.

SPEAKER_05

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

SPEAKER_02

Make holy, therefore, these gifts we pray, by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewful, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion. He took bread and giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it. For this is my body, which will be given up for you. In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and once more giving thanks. He gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it. For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many. For the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks to you who have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray the partaking of the body and blood of Christ. We may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo our Pope and Francis our bishop and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy. Welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, with the Blessed Joseph, our spouse, with the Blessed Apostles, with Saint Mark, and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, that we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ. Through him and with him and in him, O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. At the Savior's command, informed by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

SPEAKER_08

For the kingdom and the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

SPEAKER_02

Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of our church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever. The peace of the Lord be with you always. And with your servant. Let us offer each other the sign of peace. Peace, peace, peace.

SPEAKER_05

Have mercy, you take away the sins of peace.

SPEAKER_02

Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

SPEAKER_04

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.

SPEAKER_02

Grant, we pray, Almighty God, that what we have received from your holy altar may sanctify us and make us strong in the faith of the gospel which Saint Mark proclaimed through Christ our Lord.

SPEAKER_08

Amen.

SPEAKER_02

The Lord be with you.

SPEAKER_08

And with your spirit.

SPEAKER_02

May Almighty God bless you. The Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Go in peace.

SPEAKER_04

Our thanks to our donors for the gift of this Mass.
