Our thanks to the estate of Rina Maria Vandramin for making it possible for tens of thousands of faithful across Canada, USA, and the world. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. As we come to celebrate this Eucharist, we celebrate the memorial of Saint Catherine of Sienna. As we come to honor her life, her contributions, through the scriptures of today, we are reminded: Jesus comes as the light of the world. He says, I do not do anything away from the Father. He listens to the Father and be obedient to the Father. Let us ask God's pardon and mercy for the moments where we have failed to be the light for others. You were sent to heal the contrite of heart. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. You came to call the sinners. Christ have mercy. You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us. Lord have mercy.

SPEAKER_02

Lord have mercy.

SPEAKER_00

May Almighty God have mercy on us. Forgive us our sins and bring us to life everlasting. Amen. Let us pray. O God, who set Saint Catherine of Sienna on fire with the divine love in her contemplation of the Lord's passion and her service of your church. Grant through her intercession that your people participating in the mystery of Christ may ever exult in the revelation of his glory.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_05

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles. The Word of God continued to advance and gain adherence. Then after completing their mission, Barnabas and Saul returned to Jerusalem and brought with them John, whose other name was Mark. Now in the church at Antioch, there were prophets and teachers Barnabas and Simeon, who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Menaeon, a member of the court of Herod the ruler, and Saul. While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them. Then after fasting and praying, they laid their hands on them and sent them off. So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews, and they had John also to assist them. The word of the Lord.

SPEAKER_01

Thanks be to God.

SPEAKER_04

And make his face to shine upon us that your way may be known upon us. Oh God, let all the nations praise you. Let the peoples praise you, oh God. Let the nations be glad and sing for joy. For you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon. Let the peoples praise you. Oh God, let all the peoples praise you. May God continue to bless us. Let all the ends of the earth reveal. Oh God, let all the nations praise Hallelujah. I am the light of the world just the Lord. Whoever follows me will have the light of life.

SPEAKER_00

The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John. Glory to you, O Lord. Although Jesus had performed so many signs in the presence of the people, they did not believe in him. Then Jesus cried aloud, Whoever believes in me, not in me, but in him who sent me. And whoever sees me sees him who sent me. I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in the darkness. I do not judge anyone who hears my words and does not keep them, for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. On the last day, the word that I have spoken will serve as judge. For I have not spoken on my own, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment about what to say and what to speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I speak therefore, I speak just as the Father has told me. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. A man once noticed a small fire starting in a field near his home. It was not much, just a flicker at first. But the wind was picking up. He looked around, hoping someone else would step in. No one moved, and he knew that if nothing was done, it could spread to the nearby houses. So he grabbed a bucket, filled it with water, and ran toward the flames. A neighbor laughed and said, Do you really think one bucket will make a difference? The man replied, Maybe not. But at least you will show others what needs to be done. And sure enough, one by one, others joined him. Buckets multiplied, courage spread. And what could have become a disaster was brought under control. That story gives us a powerful image of what today's gospel is about. In John's gospel, we are told that Jesus cries out. He does not whisper, he doesn't speak cautiously. He cries out because this is his final public message before his passion. What he says matters deeply. Whoever believes in me believes not only in me, but also in the one who sent me. In other words, to believe in Jesus is to believe in the Father Himself. And light, by its very nature, cannot remain hidden. Light pushes back the darkness, it reveals what is true, it transforms what is what it touches. Where there's confusion, light brings clarity. Where there's fear, light brings courage. Where there's despair, light brings hope. But here is a challenge. Light only helps if we step into it. And if we choose to carry it. In the first reading from Acts, we hear something remarkable. The word of God continue to spread and grow. The church is under pressure. James has been killed. Peter has been imprisoned. Believers are scattered. From a human point of view, this should be the end. But it wasn't. Because the gospel is not dependent on perfect circumstances. It is carried by faithful people. In Antioch, the community gathers to pray and fast. They listen. And in that silence, the Holy Spirit speaks. Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them. And what do they do? They do not delay, they do not over-analyze. They respond. They send them. That is what it means to be the church, to burn with fire. Not just to receive, but to respond. Not just to believe, but to be sent. And that includes every one of us. Sometimes we think mission is for someone else, for priests, missionaries, or people with more time, more energy, or more confidence. But the truth is the mission of the church and Christ belongs to all of us right where we are. For those joining from home, the elderly, the sick, the homebound, you may feel like your time of serving has passed. That your ability to contribute is limited. But the gospel today says otherwise. The mission does not end because of weakness, age, or circumstance. Your home is still a place where light can shine. Your prayer is still powerful. Your patience in suffering is still a witness. A phone call to someone who feels forgotten. A kind word when you don't feel strong. A quiet prayer offered for someone in need. These are not small things. These are acts of light. Light of Christ shining through you. Sometimes we underestimate what God can do with that what seems so small. One bucket of water does not look much. But it starts something. It inspires something. It invites others to step forward. That is how the kingdom of God works. Most people today are searching for meaning, for peace, for belonging. Many may never read scripture or walk into a church. But they will encounter you. They will see how you respond to stress. They will hear how you speak to others. They will notice how you love, forgive, and endure. And through that, they will glimpse something greater. They will understand God more better. That is exactly what happened with Barnabas and Saul. They did not have a perfect plan. They did not know every step. But they trusted the one who called them. And through their yes, the gospel reached places they never imagined. The same is true today. The good news doesn't spread through perfect people, it spreads through faithful people, through those who keep showing up, who keep trusting, who keep choosing love, even when it is difficult. So dear brothers and sisters, this week, take your bucket. Whatever that looks like in your life, offer your prayer, speak kindness, choose forgiveness, stand for what is right. Be patient when you feel like giving up. There's always that voice inside of us that says, This won't make a difference. This is not much. Don't listen to it. It may not change the whole world in a moment, but it will change someone's world. And that is exactly how God works, one heart at a time. The world still needs people who run toward the fire instead of away from it. People who are willing to act even when the outcome is uncertain. So when you see a need, when you sense that quiet prompting in your heart, don't wait. Pick up your bucket. Take that stop. Because every act of love pushes back the darkness. Every moment of faith, it adds light to the world. And like that man in the field who stepped forward first. May we all have the courage to say, Lord, here I am. Send me. Let us stand, let us professor, let us bring forth our prayers and petitions. We pray for ourselves, for the grace of God to work in us. That we understand that every moment of our life we are given a chance to show the light of Christ to the world. We pray to the Lord.

Going to pray for our family members and friends, particularly who are caught up in the worldly things, who long for peace, who long for understanding, who long to receive the light of Christ, that they may continue to experience the goodness of God. We pray to the Lord.

SPEAKER_00

For the month of April, our community prays that all who are burdened by grief or discouragement may be afflicted by the light of the risen Christ. And renewed in hope, we pray to the Lord.

SPEAKER_06

Lord, hear our prayer.

SPEAKER_00

We take a moment of silence to bring to God our own individual needs and prayers. We pray to the Lord.

SPEAKER_06

Lord, hear our prayer.

SPEAKER_00

Heavenly Father, you are our light. You send Christ as light to the world. May we continue to receive that light and go forth in sharing that light to our brothers and sisters. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.

SPEAKER_05

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you, fruit of the earth and work of human hands. It will become for us the bread of life. Blessed be God forever. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation. For through your goodness, we have received the wine we offer you, fruit of the wine and work of human hands. It will become our spiritual drink. Blessed forever. Accept, O Lord, the off-saving sacrifice we offer in commemoration of Saint Catherine, so that instructed by her teaching, we may give evermore fervent thanks to you, the one true God, through Christ our Lord. Amen. The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Lift up your hearts. Lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just truly right and just our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks. Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God. For the saints who consecrated themselves to Christ for the sake of the kingdom of heaven, it is right to celebrate the wonders of your providence by which you call human nature back to its original holiness and bring it to experience on this earth, the gifts you promise in the new world to come. And so with all the angels and saints, we praise you, as without end we acclaim.

SPEAKER_04

Holy holy holy Lord God of oast heaven and the food of your glory.

SPEAKER_00

Make holy therefore these gifts we pray, by sending down your spirit upon them like the dew fall, so they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and under willingly did his passion, he took bread, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you. In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice once more giving thanks. He gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this all of you, and drink from it, for this is a chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith.

SPEAKER_04

Proclaim your death, O Lord, and profess your resurrection until you come again.

SPEAKER_00

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo, our Pope, Francis, our bishop, and all the clergy. Remember also, brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy, welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all. We pray that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the Blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ. Through him and with him and in him. O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. Amen. At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Now and forever. Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever. The peace of the Lord be with you always. And with yours spirit. Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

SPEAKER_04

Have mercy on us.

SPEAKER_00

Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not holy that you should enter under my roof, but only you say the word and my soul shall be healed.

SPEAKER_01

Please join me now in this act of spiritual communion. My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.

SPEAKER_00

As even in this world, it nourished the life of Saint Catherine through Christ our Lord.

SPEAKER_05

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

The Lord be with you and with your spirit. May Almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

SPEAKER_05

Amen.

SPEAKER_00

Go forth in peace to love and serve one another.

SPEAKER_05

Thanks be to God.

SPEAKER_01

Our thanks to our donors for the gift of this month.
