My dear friends, welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I'm Father Hike Shahinian. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contribution from a family who are parishioners in St. Clement Parish in Etobicoke, Ontario. This Mass is offered for their son's birthday and thanksgiving for blessings received and for world peace. Our thanks to our donor family for making it possible for tens of thousands of the faithful across Canada, the United States, and around the world to share in this celebration. And my dear friends, as we celebrate today the feast of Canadian-born saint, Saint Marie Leoni Paradi, let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries. I confess to Almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. Therefore I ask, Blessed Mary ever virgin, and all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me, the Lord our God. And may Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Let us pray.

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles. At Iconium, Paul and Barnabas spoke in such a way that a great number of both Jews and Greeks became believers. But the residents of the city were divided, so that when an attempt was made by both Gentiles and Jews with their rulers to mistreat them and to stone them, the apostles learned of it. And fled to Lystra and Derby, cities of Lyconia, and to their surrounding country, and there they continued proclaiming the good news. In Lystra there was a man sitting who could not use his feet and had never walked, for he had been crippled from birth. He listened to Paul as he was speaking, and Paul looked at him intently, and seeing that he had faith to be healed, said in a loud voice, Stand upright on your feet. And the man sprang and began to walk. When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lyconian language, The gods have come down to us in human form. Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes, because he was the chief speaker. The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates. He and the crowds wanted to offer sacrifice. When the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their clothes and rushed into the crowd, shouting, Friends, why are you doing this? We are mortals just like you, and we bring good news that you should turn from those worthless things to the living God who made heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them. In past generations, God allowed all the nations to follow their own ways, yet he has not left himself without a witness in doing good, giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, and filling you with food and your hearts with joy. Even with these words, they scarcely restrain the crowds from offering sacrifice to them. The word of the Lord.

But the earth he has given to human beings not to us, O Lord, but to Hyme give the glory. The Holy Spirit will teach you all things and remind you of all I have said to you.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John. Before the festival of the Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world and go to the Father. During the supper, Jesus said to the disciples, They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me. And those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them. Judas, not Iscariot, said to him, Lord, how is it that you will reveal yourself to us and not to the world? Jesus answered him, Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine, but it is from the Father who sent me. I have said these things to you while I am still with you, but the advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. The Gospel of the Lord. To do greater things. Perhaps in our personal lives, pertaining to a particular art or a hobby, sometimes in our professional lives. I'm sure we can all think about those particular moments where we just feel compelled. Maybe we learned something new. Maybe we discovered a new skill or something, a passion, and we feel particularly inspired to do more. It is the same with our liturgical calendar. There are certain points, I'm sure we can all agree, during the liturgical year, where we may feel a little bit more inspired than other moments. Particularly in the month of May, dedicated to our Blessed Mother, in this season of Easter, this could be one of those moments where we feel a little bit more joyful, a little bit more inspired to give a little more. But the question then becomes: how do we channel that inspiration? How do we do a little bit more? What do we do with that inspiration and that joy that is brewing, that has been ignited in our hearts? Well, particularly today in the gospel, we hear Christ having a serious conversation with his disciples, but leaving them with a particular thought. The advocate, the Holy Spirit, who the Father will send in my name, our Lord and Savior says, will teach you everything. But what is that everything? What is that everything that the Holy Spirit has given us, has taught us? Of course, there are many different aspects of the beauty, of the graces of our faith. But one particular teaching that we are for certain that Christ has taught us is embodied ever so beautifully in one of our three Canadian Canadian-born saints, whom we celebrate today, Saint Marie Leoni Paradis. For those of us that may not be as familiar with this saint who we commonly refer to as the mother of all needs, is the idea that stems from what does it mean to be humble in our faith. Saint Marie Leone was born in 1840 in Lacazie, Quebec, and she entered the Order of the Marianites of the Holy Cross at the age of 14, and she taught and she served in Montreal, in New York, and Indiana, across Canada. And it was in 1880, while she was on mission in New Brunswick, where she felt called to give a little bit more, where she founded the Order of Les Petites Soeurs de la Sainte-Famille, the Little Sisters of the Holy Family. And the heart, the heart of that call, the heart of that order today is still rooted in the gospel that we just heard today. The world today, my dear friends, tends to measure greatness by looking at the bottom line when it comes to finances, perhaps the number of subscribers, likes, etc. How big an impact can we make that is visible? Is how the earth today, how the world today, how society today measures success. But what the Holy Spirit has taught, what Saint Marie Leone Paradi was able to embody is that greatness lies more so in the hidden. Fidelity to our Lord and Savior in humility is how heaven is how our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ measures greatness. And when we have this inspiration and this joy, and we ask ourselves, how can we channel this? How do we do something big? The thought I leave you with today, my dear friends, and allow me to conclude, let us ask ourselves that joy, that inspiration that we have, rather than thinking of how we can project it on a grand scale, how can we follow St. Marileoni Paradis' example and perform beautiful, good deeds, perhaps helping others, perhaps helping ourselves within our spiritual lives in ways that are hidden, in ways that are humble. And we know very well, whenever we are able to channel that joy and our faith and that inspiration that we have in moments or tasks or in deeds as such, there is something special. There is something special that we feel in our hearts, and we truly feel the presence of the Holy Spirit that our Lord and Savior promised would teach us these virtues. May God bless you all, and may we find joy and peace in great moments that are hidden, that are humble, just as St. Marilioni Paradis taught, and we continue to celebrate today. Amen. For all those in our Daily TV Mass Prayer Intentions book, we pray to the Lord. Throughout this month of May, our community prays to follow the example of Mary by offering joy, compassion, and mercy, especially to mothers, grandmothers, and all who lovingly serve those in need. We pray to the Lord. In a special way, today we pray for the orders of Le Petit Cer de la Sainte Famille, the Mary Knights of the Holy Cross, and religious life. For more vocations and a call to serve with humility and in fidelity to the Holy Spirit's teachings, we pray to the Lord. All these intentions and those we hold in our hearts in this moment, we place in the mantle of our blessed Mother as together we pray. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Fruit of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life. As we proclaim your wonders, O Lord, in the Virgin, Blessed Saint Marie Leoni Paradi, we humbly implore your majesty that as her merits are pleasing to you, so too, our dutiful service may find favor in your sight through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

SPEAKER_02

The Lord be with you.

SPEAKER_04

And your spirit.

SPEAKER_02

Lift up your hearts. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord Holy Father, Almighty, and Eternal God. For in the saints who consecrated themselves to Christ for the sake of the kingdom of heaven, it is right to celebrate the wonders of your providence, by which you call human nature back to its original holiness, and bring it to experience on this earth the gifts you promise in the new world to come. And so with all the angels and saints, we praise you as without end we acclaim. At the time he was betrayed, and entered willingly into his passion. He took bread and giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you. In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you and Drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith. Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo, our Pope, and Francis, our bishop, and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters, who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy, welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles, and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life and praise and glorify you through your Son Jesus Christ.

SPEAKER_03

Through him and with him and in him, O God Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever.

unknown

Amen.

SPEAKER_02

At the Savior's command, informed by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

SPEAKER_04

For the we come, our most high and forever.

SPEAKER_02

Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever.

unknown

Amen.

SPEAKER_02

The peace of the Lord be with you always. Let us offer each other the sign of peace. Happy are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

SPEAKER_01

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.

SPEAKER_02

Let us pray. Renewed by partaking of this divine gift, we pray, O Lord our God, that by the example of Saint Marileoni Paradi, bearing in our body the death of Jesus, we may strive to hold fast to you alone through Christ our Lord. May the Lord be with you.

SPEAKER_05

And with your spirit.

SPEAKER_02

And may Almighty God bless you. In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Amen. The Mass is ended. Go in peace.

SPEAKER_06

Thanks be to God.

SPEAKER_01

Our thanks to our donors for the gift of this Mass.
