SPEAKER_02In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God our Father, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
SPEAKER_04And with your Spirit.
SPEAKER_02Good day, everyone. The celebration of the Daily Mass today is made possible by the contributions from two donors. The first is Pia Maria de Mico of Quinte West, Ontario, in loving memory of her deceased husband Elio, on the seventh anniversary of his passing, for the many blessings she has received, especially for her seven children, nine grandchildren, and eight grandchildren. Also, in thanksgiving for the Daily TV Mass, for all the faithful viewers and many supporters. Mrs. D'Amico and her daughter are Margarita are present at this Mass today. We welcome them. The second are Emmeline Runsteadler and John Wilt from Linwood, Ontario, for God's blessing of bringing them together and in celebration of 24 years a happy and healthy marriage, and thanksgiving for blessings received, for the safety, health, and faith of their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, for all who are sick, for more vocations and for the souls in purgatory who have no one to pray for them. Our many thanks to the donors for the gift of this Mass. As always, before we celebrate the Mass, we pause for a moment and we ask the Holy Spirit to purify our hearts of any meanness of spirit. You were sent to heal the contrite of heart. Lord, have mercy. Lord have mercy. You came to call sinners. Christ have mercy.
SPEAKER_03Christ have mercy.
SPEAKER_02You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us. Lord have mercy. May Almighty God have mercy on all of us, forgive us all our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. Let us pray, Almighty and ever living God, grant that we may always conform our will to yours and serve your majesty in sincerity of heart, through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.
SPEAKER_00Amen. A reading from the first book of Kings. Elijah the Tishbite said to King Ahab, As the Lord the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word. The word of the Lord came to him, saying, Go from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the Wadi Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. You shall drink from the Wadi, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there. So he went and did according to the word of the Lord. He went and lived by the Wadi Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the wadi. The word of the Lord.
SPEAKER_06I lift up my eyes to her heads. From my help comes. My help comes from it. Oh made her from it. Oh made her not let you for team. He who keeps you will not slumber. He who keeps you slowly will not slumber not slave. You're a lot will be great in love.
SPEAKER_02A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Matthew. When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain. And after he sat down, his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak and taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. The gospel of the Lord. Blessed, blessed, blessed. My brothers and sisters in Christ, in nineteen oh five, in South Africa, near the city of Praetoria, there was discovered the largest diamond in the world. It's called the Culinane Diamond, and it's named after the man who owned the mine. And the diamond is a 3,100 carats, or about one and a half pound in size, the size of a fist or a human heart. They would estimate that by today's costs and everything, it probably was worth about two billion dollars. It was subsequently sent to a diamond cutter and broken into parts, and the largest part was actually given to the British monarchy, and it's in the possession of the Crown Jewels of England. The original stone that they discovered had a blue-gray hint to it with a cross rainbow. And the remarkable thing is the rough stone that was taken had eight different sides to it, which shone with a different sparkle and a different light when it became. It begins very simply, doesn't it? Blessed are the poor, blessed are the poor in spirit. And Jesus is talking about the people, the poor of the earth, the annuim. It all goes through the New Testament. People who don't have enough peep food to eat, people who are hungry. But it's also people who are poor in spirit, don't have a sense that they have anything to give or worth in their lives. And Jesus understands that. Because time and again in the Gospels it says at night he went out until early in the morning. And he knelt down and he prayed, and he prayed to the Holy Spirit because he too was poor in spirit. He needed God's spirit to continue to fill him up to make him the kind of witness to the gospel that was needed. So it's a poverty that's only human and natural and material. It's a poverty of spirit. And Jesus displays that in his very, very being who he is. He says, Blessed are those who are mourned. And that seems like a contradiction. How can you be blessed if you mourn? And yet Jesus mourned, didn't he? He mourned at the death of his friend Lazarus. He mourned over Jerusalem because he saw the problems and suffering they were going to have. And he mourned over his own life. He saw that all the work he was doing, he was going to die. And in himself, he's mourning not only for the world, but he's mourning for anybody who's died. It's a mourning, though, that will bring comfort, maybe not immediately, but in some way, at some point, all the people we mourn for and we should will be with the Father and we will be them. And Jesus also says, Blessed are the meek. When you use the word meek, I think people think it's a, oh, that's a person who's weak. They don't count for very much. They don't know how to handle the world and its problems. It's a complete reverse of what the word meek means. Meek means you're strong and you're active. But you don't shove your opinions down other people's throats. You offer them gently with simplicity of heart. A truly strong man or woman is powerful, he acts, he doesn't hold back, but he never punches a person, he's never violent. To be effective is to be meek and to offer to the world freely the gifts and the talents and the insights you have. The one thing that's so desperately needed today, and I think you and I understand that, is in such a competitive society, there's so much hurt and there's so much pain. The world is crying out for mercy. Mercy for ourselves, mercy for our enemies, just a drop of water of mercy to heal some of the mess that we're in. And Jesus understood that because he said, Be kind as your heavenly father is kind. And he himself was merciful to everyone. He gave us the parable of the prodigal sons. And that's a story of mercy. Both sons were bad towards their father, but the father forgave both of them for what they did, and he bestowed his bountiful mercy on them. Blessed are the pure of heart. The first instance is to say we're talking about sexual matters, and that's part of it. Jesus was chaste. But purity of heart also refers to integrity of the spirit, that what you say and what you do are one. You and I know this. One of the things that bothers us most about church leaders, about politicians, about all of us in positions of leadership is we say one thing and we do something else. That's not integrity. Now we're not perfect, we're not Jesus. But as best as possible, what we cry for is we want our leaders, everyone who's in the world, we want ourselves to have integrity, that who we are, what we say, and what we do as best we can are molded into one. And that's in Jesus. He had integrity. Everything he said, everything he did, everything he was, was woven together in a maturity of spirit. When he first was made Pope, Leo XIV, his first words were peace. I think he said it seven times in his first initial address. When Jesus rose from the dead, the first words to his disciples were, peace be with you. Unless we're all sleeping, that's the cry of the world today. We need that kind of peace. That doesn't mean there's not going to be wars, but as best we can, as Jesus did, to limit the amount of violence, if you will. Yes, we have to discuss how it is possible to be a just war. But if our goal isn't for peace, then we're really a desperate people. As much as we can within our own families, our own communities, and globally, we need peace to be the leitmotif, the theme of our life. And if you're going to be a peacemaker, if you're going to be meek, if you're going to be merciful, some people aren't going to like it. They're going to envy us, envy you, and they're going to try to put you down and cut you down, and you're going to be persecuted. Well, you're in good company if people don't like you because you're trying to be a peacemaker, because that's the world in which Jesus lived. They harassed him, they haranged him, they challenged him in and out. They kept probing and touching to see if we can stop this man from being peaceful. The only way they stopped him is they murdered him. But through all his life he was peaceful and he was persecuted because of that peace. The Beatitudes are the jewel in the crown. The British talk about the jewel in the crown of their empire. The jewel in the crown of the Christian faith, the eight-sided sparkling jewel, that's Jesus. But he's not inanimate. He's precious, but more precious than that diamond I told you about. And so any side that you look at at Jesus, turn him around, and you'll see meekness, poverty, a sense of justice and mourning. So if your heart is crying out for mourning, if you're crying for justice, if you seek, the beautiful thing is to look to Jesus and to see in Jesus. He's the, how would I put it, the living, the person, the lived reality of what to have God's presence on earth and any side that you look at him, anything that you're seeking for, if you look at him, you'll discover beauty and truth and the presence of God. So may all of us be blessed by this beautiful, invaluable, priceless gift that's been given to us. Jesus of Nazareth, the jewel, the heart, the center of the Christian spirit, and we think of the world too. Let us join now and offer our prayers and petitions to the Lord today. We pray for those in our daily prayer mass intentions, we pray to the Lord.
SPEAKER_04Lord, heal our prayers.
SPEAKER_02During this month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, let us pray for healing in families that Christ's mercy may renew our hearts and restore our relationships. We pray to the Lord.
SPEAKER_04Lord, heal our prayer.
SPEAKER_02Let us pray for those who lack adequate food, housing, and shelter. For those persons with mental health challenges in their families, we pray to the Lord.
SPEAKER_04Lord, hear our prayer.
SPEAKER_02We take a moment, please, to pray for our own personal intentions, for the people for whom we love and care for, and for those united with us in prayer, we pray to the Lord. Lord Jesus, you are the heart of the world. You are the spirit and soul of the Father. Come to us always, dwell in our hearts, make our homes your home too. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we receive the bread we offer you, fruit of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life.
SPEAKER_05Blessed be God forever.
SPEAKER_02By the mystery of this water and wine, may we come to share in the divinity of Christ, who humbled himself to share in our humanity. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you, fruit of divine work of human hands. It will become our spiritual drink.
SPEAKER_05Blessed be God forever.
SPEAKER_02Lord God, we ask you to receive us and be pleased with this sacrifice we offer with humble and contrite hearts. Lord, wash away all our iniquities, cleanse us of all our sins. Thank you. Pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours be acceptable to God, our Almighty Father. Grant us, Lord, we pray, a sincere respect for your gifts, that through the purifying action of your grace, we may be cleansed by the very mysteries we serve. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
SPEAKER_04Amen.
SPEAKER_02The Lord be with you. Lift up your hearts.
SPEAKER_04Lift them up to the Lord.
SPEAKER_02Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God. For although you have no need of our praise, yet our thanksgiving is itself your gift, since our praises add nothing to your greatness but profit us for salvation through Christ our Lord. And so, in company with the choirs of angels, we praise you and with joy we proclaim.
SPEAKER_06Haughty, haughty, haughty light, God of us, heaven and love your glory. O sonho blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
SPEAKER_02You are indeed holy, O Lord, the font of all holiness. Make holy, therefore, these gifts we pray, by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall, that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion. He took bread and giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it. For this is my body which will be given up for you. In a similar way when Supper was ended, he took the chalice, and once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it. For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.
SPEAKER_01The mystery of faith.
SPEAKER_06We proclaim your death alright and profess your action until you come on.
SPEAKER_02Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that, partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo, our Pope, Francis, our Bishop, all the clergy and all the people of God. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy. Welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with Blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles, and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_01Through him and with him and in him, O God Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, our glory and honor is yours for ever and ever.
SPEAKER_06Amen.
SPEAKER_02At the Savior's command, informed now by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and coming of our Savior Jesus Christ for the kingdom, the power, and the glory. Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever.
SPEAKER_05Amen.
SPEAKER_02Peace of the Lord be with you always. And with your spirit. Let us offer one another a sign of the peace of Christ.
SPEAKER_06Of mercy.
SPEAKER_02Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed. Body and blood of Christ keep us all safe for eternal life.
SPEAKER_03My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.
SPEAKER_02Grant, O Lord, we pray that benefiting from participation in heavenly things, we may be helped by what you give in this present age and prepared for the gifts that are eternal through Christ our Lord. Amen. The Lord be with you.
SPEAKER_04And in your spirit.
SPEAKER_02May Almighty God bless us all, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let us go in peace to love and to serve the Lord. Thanks to God. Our thanks to our donors for the gift of this month.
