From the St. Ignatius Chapel at the Manresa Jesuit Spiritual Renewal Center in Pickering, Ontario. The National Catholic Broadcasting Council presents the Daily TV Mass.

SPEAKER_06

Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I'm Father Roshan Lloyd DeSouza. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contribution from the TRAC and Managers families of Irobico, Ontario. This Mass is offered for the soul of Ray Trag, who passed away June 22nd, 2024, and also for all those who have fallen away from the Catholic faith. May they return to the church and for the souls in purgatory. On behalf of all the faithful across Canada and around the world gathered for this celebration, we thank the track and menages families for the gift of this Mass. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The grace and peace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

SPEAKER_05

And with your spirit.

SPEAKER_06

As we thank the Lord for the gift of this beautiful day, we pray through the intercession of our Blessed Mother that she may intercede for our families and grant us the love to imitate her Son Jesus. To enter into this celebration, let us acknowledge our sins and seek God's mercy. I confess to Almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my path and my words, in what I have done and what I have failed to do. Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. Therefore, I ask Blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. Lord have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.

SPEAKER_02

Lord have mercy.

SPEAKER_06

Let us pray. Grant, Lord God, that we, your servants, may rejoice in unfailing health of mind and body, and through the glorious intercession of Blessed Mary ever virgin, may we be set free from present sorrow and come to enjoy eternal happiness through Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen.

Our reading from the second book of Chronicles. Now after the death of Jehoiada, the priest, the officials of Judah came and did obeisance to the king. Then the king listened to them. They abandoned the house of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and served the sacred poles and the idols. And wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this guilt of theirs. Yet he sent prophets among them to bring them back to the Lord. They testified against them, but they would not listen. Then the Spirit of God took possession of Zechariah, son of the priest Jehoiada. He stood above the people and said to them, Thus says God, why do you transgress the commandments of the Lord so that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the Lord, he has also forsaken you. But the officials conspired against Zechariah, and by command of the king, they stoned him to death in the court of the house of the Lord. King Joash did not remember the kindness that Jehoiada, Zechariah's father, had shown him, but killed his son. As he was dying, Zechariah said, May the Lord see and avenge. At the end of the year the army of Aram came up against Joash. They came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the officials of the people from among them, and sent all the booty they took to the king of Damascus. Although the army of Aram had come with few men, the Lord delivered their hand a very great army, because they had abandoned the Lord, the god of their ancestors. Thus they executed judgment on Joash. When the army of Aram had withdrawn, leaving King Joash severely wounded, his servants conspired against him, because of the blood of the son of the priest Jehoidah, and they killed him on his bed. So Joash died, and they buried him in the city of David, but they did not bury him in the tombs of the kings.

SPEAKER_01

Hallelujah.

SPEAKER_03

And with your spirit.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. Jesus said to his disciples, No one can serve two masters, for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth. Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, they neither sow nor reap, nor gather into bands, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life? And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the fields, how they grow. They neither toil nor spin. Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, you of little faith? Therefore, do not worry saying, What will we eat, or what will we drink, or what will we wear? For it is the Gentiles who strive for all these things, and indeed your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today's trouble is enough for today. The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. In 2009, during US Airways Flight 1549, emergency landing, a routine flight suddenly turned into a life-threatening situation. Shortly after takeoff, the plane struck a flock of birds and lost both engines. With no power and very little time, Captain Chelsea had to make a critical decision. Instead of panicking, he remained calm and chose to land the aircraft on a Hudson River. All hundred and fifty-five people on board survived. Later, Captain said that in those intense moments there was no room for divided focus. He had to trust his training completely and act with clarity and courage. This story connects beautifully with today's readings. In the first reading from 2 Chronicles, we hear about King Josh. He began his life guided by the priest Jahad and walked in the ways of God. But after Jahad's death, Josh lost his direction. He listened to wrong advice, turned away from God, and even allowed the killing of Zechariah, the son of his mentor. His story reminds us that a good beginning is not enough. Faith must be consistent. When we lose focus on God, we begin to make poor and even destructive choices. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus teaches, no one can serve two masters. You cannot serve God and mammon wealth. Just as Captain could not divide his attention between multiple options in that critical moment, we too cannot divide our hearts between God and worldly attachments. A divided heart leads to confusion and anxiety. Jesus continues, do not worry about your life. Look at the birds of the air, see how the lilies of the field grow. Worry often comes when we try to control everything ourselves or place our security in material things. But Jesus calls us to trust in God's providence. He reminds us that our Heavenly Father knows our needs and cares for us even more than He cares for nature. Think again of that flight. The passengers had no control over the situation. Their safety depended on the calm decision and steady focus of the pilot. In our lives, we too face moments of uncertainty, times when we feel powerless or afraid. In those moments, we are called to trust not in ourselves alone, but in God who guides us. The contrast between King Josh and the gospel teaching is clear. Josh allowed his focus to shift away from God and lost his way. Jesus invites us to remain focused, to trust and to seek what truly matters. When we put God first, we experience peace even in the midst of uncertainty. Today, we are invited to reflect. Where is my focus? Am I trying to serve two masters? Am I allowing worry to take control? Or am I trusting in God's care? Let me end with some simple life lessons. First of all, stay focused on God. Just as the pilot needed clear focus to save lives. We need a clear focus on God to guide our lives. Be faithful throughout life. Like Josh, we may begin well, but we must remain consistent in faith. Avoid a divided heart. We cannot serve both God and worldly attachments. Choose what truly matters. Trust in God during uncertainty. When life feels out of control, remember that God is guiding you. Seek God's kingdom first. When we put God first, He takes care of our needs and gives us peace. May we have the grace to remain focused on God, to trust Him in every situation, and to live with hearts fully devoted to Him. Let our prayer be today. Heavenly Father, you are the source of all life and the giver of every good gift. In a world that pulls our hearts in many directions, teach us to choose you above all else. Free us from the temptation to serve two masters and help us to love you with the with undivided heart. Lord, when we are tempted like King Josh to drift away, call us back with your mercy. When we listen to the voices that lead us astray, help us to hear again your truth and walk in your ways. Jesus, you taught us not to worry about tomorrow. Yet so often we are anxious about our needs, our future, our lives. Give us the grace to trust like the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, resting in the care of our Heavenly Father. Amen. Let us bring our prayers to our loving God. Let us pray for the church that we may remain united to build the kingdom of God here on earth. We pray to the Lord.

SPEAKER_05

Lord, hear our prayer.

SPEAKER_06

For all those in our daily TV Mass Prayer Intentions book, we pray to the Lord.

SPEAKER_05

Lord, hear our prayer.

SPEAKER_06

During this month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, let us pray for healing in families. That Christ's mercy may renew our hearts and restore our relationships. We pray to the Lord.

SPEAKER_05

Lord, hear our prayer.

SPEAKER_06

We make these prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation. For through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you, fruit of the earth and work of human hands, which will become for us the bread of life. Blessed be God forever. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you. Through the wine and work of human hands, it will become a spiritual drink. Receive, O Lord, we ask, the prayers of your people with the sacrificial offerings, that through the intercession of Blessed Mary, the mother of your son, no perition may go unanswered, no request be made in vain through Christ our Lord.

SPEAKER_04

Amen.

SPEAKER_06

The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Lift up your hearts.

SPEAKER_05

We lift them up to the Lord.

SPEAKER_06

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just truly right and just our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God, and to praise, bless, and glorify your name in veneration of the blessed ever virgin Mary. For by the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit, she conceived your only begotten Son, and without losing the glory of virginity, brought forth into the world the eternal light, Jesus Christ our Lord. Through him the angels praise your majesty, dominions adore, and powers tremble before you. Heaven and the virtues of heaven and the blessed seraphim worship together with exaltation. May our voices we pray join with theirs in humble praise as we acclaim.

SPEAKER_01

Holy, holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest Hanna in the You are indeed holy, O Lord, the font of all holiness.

SPEAKER_06

Make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dew fall, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion. He took bread, and giving you thanks broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you. In a similar way, when the supper was ended, he took the chalice and once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is a chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.

SPEAKER_07

The mystery of faith.

SPEAKER_01

When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again.

SPEAKER_06

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of His death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity together with Leo, our Pope, Francis, our bishop, and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy. Welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be called heirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

SPEAKER_07

Through him and with him and in him. Oh God Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever.

SPEAKER_06

Give us this day our daily prayer and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power, the glory are yours now and forever. Lord Jesus Christ, who set your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever. Amen. The peace of the Lord be with you always. Let us offer one another the sign of peace.

SPEAKER_01

Lamb you take away the sins of the world. Grant us peace.

SPEAKER_06

Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that it should enter into my room. But only say the word, and my soul shall be healed.

SPEAKER_02

Please join me now in this act of spiritual communion. My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.

SPEAKER_06

Let us pray. As we receive this heavenly sacrament, we beseech, O Lord, your mercy, that we who rejoice in commemorating the Blessed Virgin Mary, may by imitating her serve worthily the mystery of our redemption through Christ our Lord. Amen. The Lord be with you.

SPEAKER_05

And with your Spirit.

SPEAKER_06

May Almighty God bless you, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Mass is ended. Let us go in the love of Christ. Peace be to God.

SPEAKER_02

Our thanks to our donors for the gift of this Mass.
