SPEAKER_01Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I am Father Francis Salesiar. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contributions from two donors. The first is an anonymous donor from Mississauga, Ontario, for the living and deceased members of her family, for her good health, and for the return of family members to the church. Also for the souls in purgatory who have no one to pray for them. The second is Philomena from Woodbridge, Ontario, in memory of her grandmother, Philomena, her mother, Giuseppina, and her sister Asunta. May their souls and the souls of the faithful departed. Through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. Our sincere thanks to our donors for the gift of this Mass. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. The Lord be with you. In life, sometimes it's hard to find faith. When you go through difficulties, it's hard to understand the ways of God. In the Gospel of today, we hear two very important and tremendous examples of faith. How in their dire need they hold on to faith. Let us ask God's pardon and mercy for the moments where we fail to appreciate the faith that we have. You were sent to heal the contrite of heart. Lord have mercy. You came to call the sinners. Christ have mercy. You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us. Lord have mercy. Lord have mercy. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to life everlasting. Let us pray. O God, who through the grace of adoption chose us to be children of light. Grant we pray that we may not be wrapped in the darkness of error, but always be seen to stand in the bright light of truth. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
SPEAKER_00A reading from the book of the prophet Hosea. Thus says the Lord concerning Israel, his people, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her. There to shall respond as in the days of her youth, as at the time when she came out of the land of Egypt. On that day, says the Lord, you will call me my husband, and no longer will you call me my Baal, and I will take you for my wife forever. I will take you for my wife in righteousness and in justice, instead of love and in mercy. I will take you for my wife in faithfulness, and you shall know the Lord. The word of the Lord.
SPEAKER_02Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised. His greatness is unsearchable. The Lord is kind and merciful. One generation shall lord your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts on the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works I will meditate. The Lord is kind and merciful. The might of your awesome deeds shall be proclaimed, and I will declare your greatness. They shall celebrate the fame of your abundant goodness, and shall sing aloud of your righteousness. The Lord is kind and merciful alleluia. Our Savior Jesus Christ has done away with death and brought us life through the gospel.
SPEAKER_01A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. Glory to you, O Lord. While Jesus was still speaking to the disciples of John the Baptist, suddenly a leader of the synagogue came in and knelt before him, saying, My daughter has just died. But come and lay your hand on her and she will live. And Jesus got up and followed him with his disciples. Then suddenly a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his clock. For she said to herself, If I only touch his clock, I will be made well. Jesus turned and seeing her, he said, Take heart, daughter, your faith has made you well. And instantly the woman was made well. When Jesus came to the leader's house and saw the float players and the crowd making a commotion, he said, Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping. And they laughed at him. But when the crowd had been put outside, Jesus went in and took her by the hand, and the girl got up. The report of this spread throughout that district. The gospel of the Lord. A man passing by stopped and asked, What are you doing? The boy said, I am flying my kite. The man looked up and said, I don't see any kite. How do you know it's even there? The boy smiled and said, I can feel it. Every now and then I feel a tuck and I know it's still flying. That's what faith is like at times. We don't always see everything clearly. We don't always have proof in front of us. Sometimes we feel like life is cloudy, uncertain, and even dark. But then, every now and then we feel that tug, a quiet reminder that God is still there, still working, still holding on to us. And that tug can come from family, friends from situations. And that is exactly the kind of faith we see in today's gospel. We see two people who are very different from each other. One is a synagogue official, a learned man, a man with status and responsibility. The other is a woman who has been suffering in silence for 12 long years. They come from a different world, but they have one thing in common. Both of them are desperate for Jesus. The synagogue official comes to Jesus with a heartbreaking request. His daughter has just died. The reading makes it clear that she's not sick. The father says, My daughter has just died, but come, lay your hand on her and she will live. Think about that. Humanly speaking, the situation is over. Death has already entered the picture. Everyone else might say there's nothing more that can be done. But this father still believes that Jesus can bring life where there is none. The father's conviction is an important lesson for us. How often do we stop praying when sometime something looks dead? We stop praying for a broken relationship when damage feels too deep. We stop praying for a loved one who is far from God. We stop praying for a dream when the door seems to have been closed. We stop because in our minds the situation is finished. It's done. But this gospel tells us that no situation is too dead for Jesus. Faith begins where human possibility ends. Then we meet the woman along the way where he is going to the leader's house. For twelve years she has been suffering from a hemorrhage. Twelve years is a long time. That's not a short struggle. That's a long season of pain, weakness, embarrassment, and probably loneliness. She has likely tried everything. She may have been ignored, avoided, or even judged by others. And yet she reaches out to Jesus. Again, she does not make a speech. She does not ask for attention. She simply says to herself, if only I touch his cloth, I will be made cubile. That's all needed for Jesus. The world might laugh at that kind of faith. The world might say, be realistic. The world might say, It's over, give up. Twelve years is a long time. But Jesus does not laugh. Jesus does not ignore her. He stops. He turns. He sees her and he says, Take her, daughter. Your faith has made you well. That is the heart of the gospel. Jesus is not too busy for the one in pain. While he is on his way to raise the girl who's dead, he still stops for the woman. That means our hidden suffering is never a distraction to him. Our pain is never too small. Our cry is never unheard. And then when Jesus reaches the house, the mourners laugh at him. They think the girl is dead beyond hope. But Jesus clears the room, takes her by the hand, and she gets up. This is what Jesus does. He brings life where there is death. He brings hope where there is despair. He brings peace where there is fear. So what does this gospel ask of us today? First, it asks us to move toward Jesus. Neither the synagogue official nor the woman stayed where they were. They both went in search of Jesus. Faith is not passive. Faith reaches out, faith moves, faith keeps asking. Second, it reminds us that Jesus is never too busy for us. He's not so occupied with one miracle that he cannot stop for another need. He's attended to the great crisis and the hidden wound. Third, it teaches us to trust in God's timing. The delay must have felt unbearable to the Father. Can you imagine your daughter is dead on the bed? Like you asked for a help on the way, somebody catches hold of the person. Every second mattered. But Jesus was working even in the delay. He was showing that he is the Lord over both sickness and death. Both slow suffering and sudden tragedy. But we have to keep in mind, this does not mean every problem will disappear instantly. It does not mean every illness will be healed in the way we expect and we want God to work. But it does mean that when we bring our brokenness to Christ, He always brings something of His own life into it. So maybe today you are like the synagogue official carrying a burden for someone you love. Maybe you are like the woman, quietly hurting, feeling unnoticed, reaching out with whatever little faith you have. Or maybe you are like the crowd, skeptical, doubtful, laughing, and unsure what to make of Jesus. Wherever you are in your faith journey, the invitation is the same. Come to him. Because Jesus is still passing by. And when we touch him in faith, even with the trembling hands, we discover that he has already been holding on to us. And then we hear his voice. Take heart. Your faith has made you up. Let us bring forth our prayers and petitions. We pray for ourselves, for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. That even in our brokenness, weakness, even the time when we feel very low in our faith journey, in our understanding, God is with us. We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. We pray for our family members and friends, particularly those who are fallen away from faith because they prayed for something and they did not get in their own terms. Where they feel disappointed, rejected by God's love, where they feel that they have no way to see the resurrection or the new life. For them, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer here. For all those who are homebound, who feel lonely, left out, for whom there is no one to console or to be present, that they may need experience. Like the woman who was longing for 12 years received the help of God, they too may know that God is with them. We pray to the Lord.

SPEAKER_01Lift up your hearts. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is truly right and just our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks. Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God. For just as through your beloved Son you created the human race, so also through Him, with great goodness you formed it new. And so it is right that all your creatures serve you, all the redeemed praise you, and all your saints with one heart bless you. Therefore we take stroll you with all the angels, as in joyful celebration we acclaim.
SPEAKER_02Holy, holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
SPEAKER_01For through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, by the power and working of the Holy Spirit, you give life to all things and make them holy, and you never cease to gather a people to yourself, so that from the rising of the Sun to its setting, a pure sacrifice may be offered to your name. Therefore, O Lord, we humbly implore you, by the same Spirit graciously make holy these gifts we have brought to you for consecration, that they may become the body and blood of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, at whose command we celebrate these mysteries. For on the night he was betrayed, he himself took bread, and giving you thanks he said the blessing, broke the bread and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you. In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and giving you thanks, he said the blessing, and gave the chalice to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and drink from it, for this is a chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.
SPEAKER_02When we spread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again.
SPEAKER_01Therefore, O Lord, as we celebrate the memorial of the saving passion of your Son, His wondrous resurrection and ascension into heaven, and as we look forward to His second coming, we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice. Look, we pray upon the oblation of your church, and recognizing the sacrificial victim by whose death you will to reconcile us to yourself. Grant that we who are nourished by the body and blood of your Son and filled with His Holy Spirit may become one body, one spirit in Christ. May He make of us an eternal offering to you, so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect, especially with the most blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the Blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the Blessed Apostles and Glorious Martyrs, and all the saints on whose constant intercession in your presence we rely for unfailing help. May this sacrifice of our reconciliation we pray, O Lord, advance the peace and salvation of all the world. Be pleased to confirm in faith and charity your pilgrim church on earth. With your servant Leo, our Pope, Francis our bishop, the honor of bishops, all the clergy and the entire people you have gained for your own. Listen graciously to the prayers of this family, whom you have summoned before you. In your compassion, O merciful Father, gather to yourself all your children scattered throughout the world. To our departed brothers and sisters, and to all who are pleasing to you at their passing from this life, give kind admittance to your kingdom. There we hope to enjoy forever the fullness of your glory. Through Christ our Lord, through whom you bestow on the world all that is good. Through him and with him and in him. O God, Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses. Thus we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not in temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope of the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the Father, and the glory are yours now and forever. Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever. The peace of the Lord be with you always. Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

SPEAKER_03Please join me now in this act of spiritual communion. My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.
SPEAKER_01Let us pray. May this divine sacrifice we have offered and received. Fill us with life, O Lord, we pray. So that bound to you in lasting charity, we may bear fruit that lasts forever. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. May Almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Go forth in peace to love and serve one another.
