SPEAKER_07Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I'm Father Ernie DeCicho. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contributions from two donors. The first is being offered through the kindness of the Claude Andrew D'Souza Estate Legacy Fund for the repose of his soul and the souls in purgatory, for God's blessings for the Daily TV Mass and for world peace. The second are Pamela and Michael Saw and their family from Mississauga, Ontario, in Thanksgiving for Pamela's 75th birthday today. And Pamela is reading for our Mass today. Also for her mom, Betty Remcharan, who celebrated her 92nd birthday on June 23rd. Also for the birthdays of their grandchildren, Kean Boyle on July the 5th and Aaron Bach on July 25th. And for Olivia, who recently celebrated her birthday. They also offer prayers for Michael's speedy recovery, for a special intention for their family, in gratitude for blessings received, and with heartfelt thanks for the Daily TV Mass. Our thanks to our donors for the gift of this Mass. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Lord be with you and with your Spirit. My dear brothers and sisters, as we gather today to praise and worship God, to hear God's word and celebrate the Eucharist, let's first take a moment to thank the Lord for the countless blessings that we have received. And we're still not perfect people. We need God in our life. So we turn to the Lord and ask for strength and mercy and peace. Lord Jesus, you healed the sick. Lord, have mercy. Lord Jesus, you forgave sinners. Christ have mercy. Lord Jesus, you give us yourself to heal us and bring us strength. Lord, have mercy. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Let us pray. O God, protector of those who hope in you, without whom nothing has firm foundation, nothing is holy. Bestow in abundance your mercy upon us, and grant that with you as our ruler and guide, we may use the good things that pass in such a way as to hold fast even now to those that ever endure. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
SPEAKER_00A reading from the book of Prophet Hosea. Thus says the Lord, when Israel was child, I love him, and our Egypt I called my son. Yet it was I who thought Ephrine to walk. I took them up in my arms, but they did not know that I healed them. I led them with cords and human kindness, with bands of love. I was to them like those who lift infants to their cheeks. I bent down to them and fed them. But they have refused to return to me. My heart recoils with me. My compassion grows warm and tender. I will not execute my fierce anger. I will not again destroy Ephraim. For I am God and no moral, the Holy One in your midst, and I will not come in rap. The word of the Lord.
SPEAKER_02Stir up your might and come to save us. Let us see your face, Lord, and we shall be saved. Turn again, O God of hosts, look down from heaven and see, have regard for this vine, the stalk that your right hand planted, and upon the one whom you made strong for yourself. Let us see your face, Lord, and we shall be saved. The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news.
SPEAKER_07A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. Jesus said to his disciples, As you go, proclaim the good news, the kingdom of heaven has come near. Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You received without payment, give without payment. Take no gold or silver or copper in your belts, no bag for your journey, or two tunics, or sandals, or a staff, for laborers deserve their food. Whatever town or village you enter, find out who in it is worthy, and stay there until you leave. As you enter the house, greet it. If the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. If any one will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town. Truly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town. The gospel of the Lord. Are we supposed to interpret all the words of the gospel in a literal manner? This is where I get into arguments with certain biblical fundamentalists who insist every word has to be observed exactly as it says. If that was the case, some of these evangelical preachers would be walking around without sandals, without money, and never get millions of dollars like some of them do. And they'll say, no, but Jesus was only talking to his disciples of 2,000 years ago. Jesus is talking to us. And no, we don't have to take this in a literal manner. But we should still take it to heart. Do we proclaim the gospel in order to make money, to get rich, to be famous or popular? We proclaim the gospel to build up the kingdom of God, not for our own honor and glory. So, no, we don't have to interpret things totally literally, but still there's a truth here that should be taken to heart. And then again, Jesus gives his disciples back then and today instructions of what they are really to do. Cure the sick. Jesus worked miracles in this time. He was not a healthcare professional, but he healed so many broken bodies and hearts and minds and spirits. And we're called to do the same thing. Are we instruments of God's healing? People are suffering in so many different ways. In body, mind, and spirit. And we can bring healing to them. That doesn't mean that we have to be dispensers of medications. There are professionals who can do that. But a kind word, an embrace, a phone call, a little attention can go so far. Even a smile instead of our constant frowns. People are suffering and they need healing. God heals. We have a sacrament of anointing that's for healing. But we should all be instruments of that healing that Jesus practiced himself. Let's not turn a blind eye or a deaf ear to the cries of the suffering. Let's do our part to bring that healing. Raise the dead. Well, we know that Jesus raised Lazarus, of course, and the widow's son and the little girl. We don't have the power to resuscitate people necessarily. But I'm convinced that there's an awful lot of people in our world who are living in tombs. Hiding. Preferring to be in the dark than coming out into the light. Maybe it's guilt that they're overwhelmed with. Maybe they think nobody likes them. Maybe they're just depressed or anxious. Are we able to bring people out of their tombs? You know, we should learn this as little kids. New kid shows up at school, we should be the first to go up to them and say, come and play with me, instead of leaving them alone and isolated. And this continues throughout life. How many seniors are there or are just waiting for a visit from somebody? Even a phone call from one of their kids. Pick up the phone. Call that old aunt who hasn't seen you in 16 years. And you'll make her day. Raise the dead. Because people are sad and lonely and isolated, living in the dark, living in tombs. Cleanse the lepers. That's a good one. Leprosy still exists today, of course, as a physical ailment. But there are too many other lepers. People who've been judged for whatever reason. Are we judgmental types? You know, sometimes even priests can do this. Young woman shows up pregnant. And we're quick to judge. All I ask is, are you keeping the baby? Then God bless you. We gotta think of what we stand for. Life. Let's not be so quick to judge. And we judge people for the way they look, the way they dress, the way they talk. Can we be kind, accepting, welcoming, inclusive? Made a couple not long ago switching parishes for the simple reason that they didn't feel welcome even in their church. Because they were interracial as a couple? After all these years, have we not learned that we're all children of God? That we're all brothers and sisters? Cleanse those lepers. Welcome them. Include them. And the last one is cast out demons. You know, too many of us have the image of the movie The Exorcist and people being possessed. Evil is real, and evil exhibits itself in the negative attitudes that people can have sometimes. And we tolerate it. Why? Is it acceptable that somebody makes a racist or sexist joke at work? Ha ha. Not funny. It's not funny. It's evil. Because it hurts people. And yes, we can hurt people physically. We can hurt them with our words and our attitudes. I've said it before, that old line, sticks and stones may break my bones, but words may will never hurt me. Wrong. Our words can hurt. So let's use good words. And let's make sure that words that are spoken around us are always good words. And if they're not, let's cast out those demons. And now let's offer our prayers to the Lord our God, because God always hears us and answers us in our need. For all those in our Daily TV Mass Prayer Intentions book, we pray to the Lord. As a community prayer, let's give thanks for grandparents and elders, like Saints Joachim and Anne, who nurture faith and family across generations with quiet strength. We pray to the Lord. Always we pray for peace in our troubled world, for an end to war and violence, for an end to hatred and division in all lands. We pray. For all the sick and suffering, those in hospitals, those in nursing homes, those confined to their own homes, those having to face surgery, those dealing with chronic illness, those with terminal illness, for all the sick, we pray to the Lord. For the poor, the hungry, the homeless, the persecuted, the refugees, the prisoners, the unemployed, and for all victims of injustice, we pray.

SPEAKER_07Blessed are your Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you, fruit of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life. Fruit of the vine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink. Except, O Lord, we pray the offerings which we bring from the abundance of your gifts, and through the powerful working of your grace, these most sacred mysteries may sanctify our present way of life and lead us to eternal gladness through Christ our Lord. The Lord be with you. Lift up your hearts. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks. Lord, Holy Father, Almighty, and Eternal God. For just as through your beloved Son you created the human race, so also through Him with great goodness you formed it anew. And so it is right that all your creatures serve you, all the redeemed praise you, and all your saints with one heart bless you. Therefore we too extol you with all the angels, as in joyful celebration we acclaim.

SPEAKER_07Make holy, therefore, these gifts we pray, by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion. He took bread and giving thanks broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body which will be given up for you. For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.
SPEAKER_06The mystery of faith.
SPEAKER_02When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again.
SPEAKER_07Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo, our Pope, and Francis, our bishop, and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy. Welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with Blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_06Through him and with him and in him, O God Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever.

SPEAKER_07And now let's join together in prayer using the words that our Savior Jesus Christ has given us. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_05For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.
SPEAKER_07Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, Peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever. Amen. The peace of the Lord be with you always. Let us offer each other the sign of peace.
SPEAKER_02Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world. Have mercy on us, Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world.
SPEAKER_07Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof.
SPEAKER_01My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.
SPEAKER_07Grant, we pray, that this gift, which he himself gave us with love beyond all telling, may profit us for salvation through Christ our Lord. Amen. The Lord be with you. And with your Spirit. May Almighty God bless you, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life.
