Welcome to the celebration of the of the Sunday TV Mass on the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time. I'm Father Hank Van Mijel. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contribution from an anonymous donor from Scarborough, Ontario. This Mass is offered for the repose of the soul of Wilken Wong and for all the deceased members of the Wong, Lum, and Lee Mook families, and for all the holy souls in purgatory. And as we have placed ourselves on this Sunday before the Lord, again recalling our own weakness, our own need for God's guidance. You were sent to heal the contrite of heart. Lord have mercy. You came to call sinners. Christ have mercy. You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us. Lord have mercy. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. And on this Sunday we say together, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, Heavenly King, O God, Almighty Father, Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer. Seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us, for you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the most high Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in the glory of God the Father. Amen. And let us pray. O God, who show the light of your truth to those who go astray, so that they may return to the right path, give all who for the faith they profess are counted Christians the grace to reject whatever is contrary to the name of Christ, and to strive after all that does it honor. True, O Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever.

A reading from the letter of Saint Paul to the Romans. Brothers and sisters, I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and will obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labor pains until now, and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for the adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. The word of the Lord.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. Such great crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat there, while the whole crowd stood on the beach, and he told them many things in parables. Listen, a sower went out to sow, and as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and the birds came and ate them up. Other seed fell on rocky ground, they where they did not have much saw, and they sprang up quickly, since they had no depth of saw. But when the sun rose they were scorched, and since they had no root, they withered away. Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seed fell on good soul, and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Let anyone with ears listen. The gospel of the Lord. The explain themselves. And of course the seed falling on the ground, we can see that we all wanna be on good soil, we all wanna be people who bring forth a good harvest for the Lord. But it's not that simple simple, as especially in our society in our current society, where we live in a very individualistic society where we only where so many of us only think of today and what the next entertainment will be. And so many people just live on what the entertainment industry provides. And so God is drowned out, and and so they cannot hear God. So many of us in a society don't hear God. And while God is working all the time in our hearts, and as Isaiah in our first reading, Isaiah 55, uh God, the Holy Spirit, it's like uh showers the the earth like water, just like rain, and is looking for a good harvest. And but most of us, it doesn't happen that quickly. And even in my own life, how I uh in my earlier years I was stuck in that secular culture. If I have a big business, if I have a big car, if I have a big house, if I have, you know, I have this and this and this, then I'm gonna be happy. And I had to figure out that happiness is not found in all of that, and it doesn't matter how how much we have, and we will never be happy. Earthly possessions do not make us happy. They can make us happy for a little while, but not too long. And so, but in the meantime, God is at work and God always tries to bring good out of bad. And sometimes we really need uh a knock over our head, so to speak, and something has to really happen in our life before we wake up. And uh actually this morning I was speaking with someone yet who really started to wake up, she lost her husband, and uh things are not good, and she started going back to the church. I cannot solve my life, I need God, and God is there just waiting to welcome us back, a God who does not reject us, even the worst sinner is always accepted by God, and we have the life of the saints, the saints who are those examples for us, who really show us the way to God, how to live a good life, and to live an honest, clear life, a transparent life, a life without lies, and uh a God who just keeps calling. And so we have the examples. Uh and there are some people who write from early on in their life who were uh people who were people of prayer and who want to live a good life, and who are great examples to us, who were from day one on that good soil, on a good ground, and who produced. And a good example actually on the universal calendar today, we have Blessed Louise Martin. Louise Martin is the father of Therise of LeJu. He had nine children, huge family, but him and his wife they were people of prayer. And uh from the nine children, five of the girls entered religious life, and of course, Therese of Le Jeux was one, was the youngest one of his daughters, who is now doctor of the church. But he he was he grew up on fertile soil and he provided fertile soil for his family, and so uh again, how uh uh God showered him with many gifts, and he knew that from day one, and God and it came back to God and produced a great harvest. But it's never too late, never too late. We also um we have uh uh uh Gemma Galani Galgani, sorry, who died in 1903, and who was actually a daughter of Passion. She literally lived the Passion of Christ, tremendous suffering, voluntarily suffering for others. And she died in 1903 at age 25, and she uh because of and she was very much hidden, but after she died, uh a book was written about her, and everything expanded. And there's a story of uh a person dying a few years later, I think in uh uh 1907, who was in a hospital, uh just lived a horrible life, he was angry, he he was mad, he was there is no God, I have nothing to do with God. Stay away with your sacraments, I don't want it. And matter of fact, uh he even spit at a priest who tried to uh bring him some consolation. And they prayed for the intercession of Gemma Galgani, and they literally prayed, uh and they started praying in the morning. At 11 o'clock that evening, he he demanded or he really wanted to see a priest and he repented. Eleven o'clock at night, the priest comes out and he repented and had a good confession about his life, and four o'clock in the morning, hours later, he died in peace. And but although it was just a few hours in his time of repentance to um uh uh to dying, his that example, that miracle of his turnaround was such a great miracle, touched so many hearts, and God always brings good out of bad in ways which sometimes is totally beyond our understanding. Amen. So let us stand and let us profess of faith using the words of the Apostles' Creed. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, O Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. And let us bring our prayers before the Lord. We pray for all those in the Daily TV Mass Prayer Intention Book. We pray to the Lord. As a community prayer, let us give thanks for grandfather, grandparents, and elders like Saint Joachim and Anne who nurture who nurture faith and family across generations with quiet strength. We pray to the Lord. With Pope Leo, we pray this month for respect and protection of human life in all its stages, recognizing it as a gift from God. We pray to the Lord. And for these prayers and the prayers in the silence of our own hearts, we lift them up to you, Lord. Amen.

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the challenge of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo or Pope, Francis or Bishop, the Order Bishops, the clergy, and the entire people you have called your own. Remember also our sisters and brothers who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy, welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all. We pray that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with the blessed Joseph, our spouse, with the blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ. Through him and with him and in him. O God Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours for ever and ever. Amen. At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say, O Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day your daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not to temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
