SPEAKER_02Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I am Father Prakash Anthony Lohale. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contributions from two donors. The first is an anonymous donor from St. Pascal Bellon Church in Thornhill, Ontario, for Angelina, Ruby, and Virginia, for their special intentions, in thanksgiving to our Mother of Perpetual Help, for the good health of their living family members, for the repose of the souls of their deceased family and the souls in purgatory, especially those who have no one to pray for them, for increased vocations to the priesthood and religious life, for peace and justice, and that God may grant their children and grandchildren the grace to make the right decisions and for healing. SPEAKER_02Today we also celebrate the feast of Saint Bonaventure, who was a Franciscan and he became a bishop. He was a brilliant theologian, but at the same time, he was a bishop who was very wise and humble. As we prepare to celebrate this Eucharist, let us call to mind our failings and ask the Lord to forgive us.
SPEAKER_01I confess, Almighty God, unto you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and what I have failed to do. Through my fault, through my fault, through my most greatest fault. Therefore I ask the Blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and to you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord.
SPEAKER_02May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.

SPEAKER_02Let us pray. Grant we pray, Almighty God, that just as we celebrate the heavenly birthday of the Bishop Saint Bonaventure, we may benefit from his great learning and constantly imitate the ardor of his charity. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
SPEAKER_00A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah. Thus says the Lord, Ah, Assyria, the rod of my anger, the club in their hands is my fury. Against a godless nation I stand him, and against the people of my wrath I command him, to take spoil and seize plunder, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. But this is not what he intends, nor does he have this in mind. But it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off nations, not a few. For the Lord says, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I have understanding, I have removed the boundaries of peoples, and have plundered their treasures. Like a bull, I have brought down those who sat on thrones. My hand has found, like a nest, the wealth of the peoples. And as one gathers eggs that have been forsaken, so I have gathered all the earth, and there was none that moved a wing, or opened its mouth, or chirped. Shall the axe vaunt itself over the one who wields it, or shall the saw magnify itself against the one who handles it? As if a rod should raise the one who lifts it up, or as if a staff should lift the one who is not wood. Therefore the sovereign, the Lord of hosts, will send wasting sickness among his stout warriors, and under his glory a burning will be kindled, like the burning of fire. The word of the Lord.
SPEAKER_04And flick your return. Understand for people for small will be wise. You find the lodge. Who teaches knowledge to humanity? You have revealed too little mysteries of the kingdom.
SPEAKER_02A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. At that time Jesus said, I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent, and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son, and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. The Gospel of the Lord. Let those words sink for a moment. These words overturn everything the world tells us about wisdom. We live in a world that rewards credentials, that celebrates brilliance, and measures worth by achievements. And yet, Jesus tells us plainly that the deeper truths of God are not unlocked by intelligence, they are received by the humble. What does that humility look like? The first reading, Isaiah answers, but in a very different way. He shows us by holding up an example, but with a portrait of just the opposite. We hear the boast of the Assyrian king. By my wisdom, for I am shrewd. I have removed the boundaries of peoples. I have plundered their treasures. Not a whisper of God, not a flicker of gratitude. This man has achieved extraordinary things and claimed every bit of glory for himself alone. So God asks this piercing question. Does the axe boast over the one who wields it? Does the saw exalt itself above the hand that moves it? It is a devastating image. An axe swollen with pride for felling trees, forgetting entirely the arm that gave it every swing. And if we are honest, that temptation lives in every human heart. We achieve, we succeed, we accumulate. But we slowly, quietly, we begin to believe that the glory is ours alone. And in that moment, I think we have placed ourselves where only God belongs. And this is precisely why Bonaventure's wisdom stands in such contrast.

SPEAKER_02Thomas Aquinas, one of the most brilliant theologians who ever lived, was Bonaventure's contemporary. And tradition tells us that Thomas once visited his friend and he was curious to understand the source of his extraordinary wisdom. So he asked Bonaventure to show him his library. Bonaventure did not lead him to shelves overflowing with books, but he pointed quietly to a crucifix on the wall. That gesture, my dear friends, says everything. Bonaventure's wisdom did not flow from scholarship alone. It flowed from prayer, from deep contemplation, from a living relationship with Christ crucified. So here were two of the greatest minds in Christian history, and the lesson between them was this knowledge opens doors, but only a humble heart can walk through them. My dear brothers and sisters, this is not a call to be less educated or less thoughtful. God made our minds and delights when we use them. The question is not how much we know, it is where we stand when we come before God. Do we come as the Assyrian king, certain, self-sufficient, convinced the glory is ours? Or do we come as little ones, open, receptive, willing to let God be God? Childlike faith is not naivety. It is the courageous choice to trust what we cannot fully control, to point to the crucifix and say, Teach me, what no credential, no achievement, no amount of knowledge ever can. So, my dear friends, let us leave this Eucharist with one honest question. Where is my real library? Am I the axe that thinks it is the woodcutter? Or am I willing to be the tool in God's hands? May we have the humility to point, as Bonaventure did, not to our achievements, not to our certainties, but to the cross. For it is there in love poured out freely that God reveals everything that we truly need to know. Amen. Let us bring our prayers to God who created the earth and its fullness. SPEAKER_02For those whose lives are plagued by doubt and despair, that they may have God's grace to help them. Let us pray to the Lord. God of heaven and earth, you reward those with clean hands and pure hearts. In our unworthiness, we bring our prayers to you through Christ our Lord. And work of the hands. It will become our spiritual bread. Your goodness we have received the wine we offer, fruit of the wine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink. Pray that our sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.
SPEAKER_05May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and the good of all his holy church.
SPEAKER_02Look with favor, O Lord, we pray, on the offerings we set upon this sacred altar, on the feast day of Blessed Bonaventure, that bestowing on us your pardon, our oblations may give honor to your name through Christ our Lord.

SPEAKER_02Lift up your hearts. Lift up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just truly right and just our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks. Lord Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God, through Christ our Lord. For as on the festival of St. Bonaventure, you bid your church rejoice, so too you strengthen her by the example of his holy life. Teach her by his words of preaching, and keep her safe in answer to his prayers. And so, with the company of angels and saints, we sing the hymn of your praise as without end we acclaim.
SPEAKER_04Holy, holy, holy, and fall of your glory.
SPEAKER_02For through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, by the power and working of the Holy Spirit, you give life to all things and make them holy. And you never cease to gather a people to yourself, so that from the rising of the sun to its setting, a pure sacrifice may be offered to your name. Therefore, O Lord, we humbly implore you by the same Spirit, graciously make holy these gifts we have brought to you for consecration, that they may become the body and blood of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, at whose command we celebrate these mysteries. For on the night he was betrayed, he himself took bread, and giving you thanks, he said the blessing, broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body which will be given up for you. In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice, and giving you thanks, he said the blessing, gave the chalice to his disciples, saying, Take this all of you and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. Therefore, O Lord, as we celebrate the memorial of the saving passion of your Son, His wondrous resurrection and ascension into heaven, and as we look forward to His second coming, we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice. Look, we pray upon the oblation of your church, and recognizing the sacrificial victim by whose death you will to reconcile us to yourself, grant that we who are nourished by the body and blood of your Son and filled with His Holy Spirit may become one body, one spirit in Christ. May He make of us an eternal offering to you, that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect, especially with the most blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with Blessed Joseph her spouse, with your blessed apostles and glorious martyrs, with Saint Bonaventure, and with all the saints on whom's constant intercession in your presence we rely for unfailing help. May this sacrifice of our reconciliation we pray, O Lord, advance the peace and salvation of all the world. Be pleased to confirm in faith and charity your pilgrim church on earth, with your servant Leo, our Pope, and Francis our bishop, the Order of Bishops, all the clergy, and the entire people you have gained for your own. Listen graciously to the prayers of this family whom you have summoned before you. In your compassion, O merciful Father, gather to yourself all your children scattered throughout the world. To our departed brothers and sisters, and to all who are pleasing to you at their passing from this life, give kind admittance to your kingdom. There we hope to enjoy forever the fullness of your glory through Christ our Lord, through whom you bestow on the world all that is good. Through him and with him and in him, O God Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever.

SPEAKER_02Coming together as God's family, let us now remember the words that Jesus Himself taught us. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
SPEAKER_01Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespass, as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
SPEAKER_02Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress of mind and body, as we are with the blessed hope in the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_07For the kingdom of power and the glory are yours now and forever.
SPEAKER_02Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, Peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant a peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever. Amen. The peace of the Lord be with you always and with your spirit. Let us offer each other a sign of peace. Behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
SPEAKER_03My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.
