SPEAKER_00Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I'm Father Hank van Meyle. The televising of this mass is made possible by the contribution from three donors. The first are Richard and Justine Giuliani from Burlington, Ontario, for the intentions of the Giuliani family and all shardins viewing this mass. For the deceased members of the Giuliani, Lynn, De Carlo, Nielsen, Loney, Rogers, Johnson, Sabertani, Arduani and Pagali families. For all souls in purgatory and for the daily TV Mass community. The second is an anonymous donor from Scarborough, Ontario, in appreciation of the Daily TV Mass. SPEAKER_00And as we have placed ourselves before the Lord on this memorial of our Lady of Carmel, again recalling our own weakness, our own need for God's guidance at every breath we take. You were sent to heal the contrite of heart. Lord have mercy. You came to call sinners, Christ have mercy. You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us. Lord have mercy. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. And let us pray. May the venerable intercession of the glorious Virgin Mary come to our aid, we pray, O Lord, so that, fortified by her protection, we may reach the mountain which is Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen.
SPEAKER_03A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah. The way of the righteous is level. O just one, you make smooth the path of the righteous. In the path of your judgments, O Lord, we wait for you. Your name and your renown are the soul's desire. My soul yearns for you in the night. My spirit within me earnestly seeks you. For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness. O Lord, you will ordain peace for us, for indeed, all that we have done, you have done for us. O Lord, in distress they sought you, they poured out a prayer, when your chastening was on them. Like a woman with child who writhes and cries out in her pangs, when she is near her time, so were we because of you, O Lord. We were with child, we writhed, but we gave birth only to wind. We have won no victories on earth, and no one is born to inhabit the world. Your dead shall live, their corpses shall rise. O dwellers in the dust, awake and sing for joy, for your dew is a radiant dew, and the earth will give birth to those long dead.

SPEAKER_04Glory to you, O Lord.
SPEAKER_00Jesus said, Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. The Gospel of the Lord. And we have each we have a choice which yoke we will carry. And whatever we do in life, we will carry a yoke. And we have the choice to carry the yoke of secular life. And the yoke of secular life is to pursue happiness, to pursue our passions. But what comes with that yoke is that we never will be satisfied. Never satisfied, it's never enough. And also, since when we embrace that joke of secular life, we also quote have a choice. We have a choice that when someone conceives a child, that we just can abort it and just avoid those problems. Don't have to deal with it because we want an easy life. And vis-a-vis at the end of life, we have that choice to say if I really follow the secular life, I had enough, and please give me assisted dying. I still call it assisted suicide, but that's not a loud language anymore. But assisted dying, and I'm in control and to die very dissatisfied because life never gave us anything. And it is so and we have that choice. And by the way, assisted dying, especially in Canada, we have a public health care system, and where we the public health care system takes care of us till we die. And it's much more cost-effective if I agree to take to let them take my life before my time is there. And so we have that choice. Or I can choose to follow Christ. And to follow Christ is also a mystery. And yes, we will also have the yoke, a yoke of suffering, but we will accept our suffering. Whatever comes, we trust that God will work through it and give us the strength to walk the difficult road. We will be satisfied with what we have. Yes, our neighbors also will travel further and have bigger cars and bigger titles, but it doesn't matter. We will be satisfied with what we have. And when we come to the end of our life journey, we will trust that God will bring good out of our life. And we will embrace our suffering. And end of life, of course, is for all of us, it's not always easy. And there can be suffering, absolutely. Now, of course, with good palliative care, the painful suffering of ages past will not be there. But still, we accept our suffering and we offer our suffering up with Jesus on the cross. And we trust that Jesus will bring good out of our suffering. And at the end of our lives, it can be a beautiful thing. And I've been with people who embraced the yoke of Christ, who at the end of life that I'm there and I would not want to be anywhere else. It's peaceful, all is good there with God. And I've been with people who have embraced the secular life all about me, and at the end of life, it is nothing but drama. Lots of drama, the family is upset, the priest has to come all the time, and there's all kinds of drama. And we have that choice, and it's that simple. Which yoke am I gonna uh choose? The yoke of the secular life and always not being satisfied and always want to have more, or the yoke of Christ, and to be satisfied with what we have. And the yoke of Christ, of course, it's a mystery. And we're trying to always try to work out that mystery, but we never understand that mystery. And that mystery is it uh it's a growing thing. In the first reading of Isaiah, we see a hint of that mystery of the understanding of that there's life after death. And but it's that understanding of life after death. Uh it kind of like a funnel. It gets, our understanding becomes bigger and bigger and bigger. And at the Maccambean times, the the uh the Maccabeans were praying already for those who had fallen, uh, who had fallen, actually had medals of other gods under their garments who had died. And they prayed for their souls to be with God. And of course, then a few hundred years later, we had the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Jesus who returned after he died on the cross to us, to show us the way to God. And so we have those choices. And but it's a slow development and we just have to trust. Faith is trust. And just like a little child, trust that mummy will give all the needs of life to the child. And so today we on the memorial of Our Lady of Carmel celebrate also how Our Lady, the mother of God, was among us to show us the way to God. And Our Lady of Carmel, it started on Mount Carmel in the 12th century where a group of hermits were there because Mount Carmel is also in One Kings we have where Elijah outduced 450 prophets of King Ahab. And there's this great scene where the prophets, the 450 prophets, uh, they have the sacrifice and and their gods does nothing. And Elijah came there and he calls down God and the sacrifices were burnt in an instant. And so there's a long history there. And so from that point on on Mount Carmel, things uh evolved, and they were actually driven of Mount Carmel by the Islam. The Islam uh they uh pushed them out in the 12th century, and Simon Stock, who received the the scaper, the brown scapeler, so many people uh carry as an external sign that they're children of God, that God, that they have chosen that yoke of God and God will protect them. And um so again we have that choices. Are we gonna uh uh go to God or are we following uh uh the the secular world? And of course, I can I trust in our lady, our lady of Carmel, but our lady or the mother of God who so often has interceded for us and so often calls us, appears to us and shows us the way forward. Amen. So let us bring our prayers before the Lord. We pray for all those in our daily TV Mass Prayer Intention Book. We pray to the Lord.

SPEAKER_00We pray for Carmelite religious communities that they will be blessed with new vocations of young adults who desire to carry the yoke Jesus Christ offers, a yoke of peace and love. For this we pray to the Lord. And for these prayers, and the prayers in the silence of our own hearts, we lift them up to you, Lord. Amen. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you, fruit of the earth and work of human hands. It will become for us the bread of life.

SPEAKER_00By the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the divinity of Christ who humbled himself to share in our humanity. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you, fruit of the vine and work of human hands. It will become our spiritual drink.

SPEAKER_00That humble spirit and contrite heart, may we be accepted by you, O Lord, and may our sacrifice in your sight this day be pleasing to you, Lord God. Wash me, O Lord, for my iniquities, cleanse me of my sins. Thank you. Pray, my sisters and brothers, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God the Almighty Father.
SPEAKER_03May the Lord accept the sacrifice of your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and the good of all his holy church.
SPEAKER_00Receive, O Lord, we ask, the prayers of your people with the sacrificial offerings, that through the intercession of Blessed Mary, the mother of your son, no petition may go unanswered, no request be made in vain through Christ, O Lord.

SPEAKER_00Lift up your hearts. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just truly right and just a duty and of salvation to praise your mighty deeds in the exaltation of all the saints, and especially as we celebrate the memory of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to proclaim your kindness as we echo her thankful hymn of praise. For truly, even to earth's ends, you have done great things, and extended your abundant mercy from age to age. When you looked on the lowliness of your handmaid, you gave us through her the author of our salvation, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Through him, the host of angels adores your majesty and rejoices in your presence forever. May all voices we pray join with those in one chorus of exalt praise as we acclaim.
SPEAKER_05Holy God of earth are full of your glory in the name of the Lord Hest.
SPEAKER_00You are indeed holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness. Make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion, he took bread and giving you thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this all of you and eat of it, for this is my body which will be given up for you. In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this all of you and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many. The forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith.
SPEAKER_05When we disprat and drink this cup, we proclaim your death alright until you are calm again.
SPEAKER_00Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the challenge of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo or Pope, Francis or Bishop, the Order Bishops, the clergy, an entire people you have called your own. Remember also our sisters and brothers who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy, welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all. We pray that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with Blessed Joseph, your spouse, with the Blessed Apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ. Through him and with him and in him, O God Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, O glory and honor is yours for ever and ever. Amen. And at the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say, O Father, who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day your daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And leave us not in temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_03The kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever.
SPEAKER_00Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant our peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen. The peace of the Lord be with you always, and with your spirit. And let us offer each other a sign of peace. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but I say the word and my soul shall be healed.
SPEAKER_01My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.
SPEAKER_00As we receive this heavenly sacrament, we beseech, O Lord, your mercy, that we who rejoice in commemorating the Blessed Virgin Mary may be imitating her, serve worthy the mystery of our redemption. Through Christ, O Lord. The Lord be with you.
