Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I'm Father Roshan Lloyd DeSouza and today our homelist is Deacon Mike Walsh. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contributions from Esther Compton from Pueblo West, Colorado. This Mass is offered in loving memory of her husband Tom on what would have been their 65th wedding anniversary today. It is also offered in remembrance of Christopher, their youngest grandchild, Tommy, their eldest son, and for her five children, 14 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren to follow Jesus and in Thanksgiving for all the blessings they have received and for the Daily TV Mass. Today is the feast of Saint Mary Magdalene. What a blessing to encounter the risen Lord. And the Lord told her to go and tell her brothers the good news that He is truly risen. And today, as we honor Saint Mary Magdalene, we are given this beautiful privilege to spread the message of the risen Lord, to live in love and peace. As we begin this celebration, let us call to mind our sins and seek God's mercy. I confess to Almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault. Therefore, I ask Blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. Lord, have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, Heavenly King, O God Almighty Father, Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. You take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer. You are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us, for you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High Jesus Christ with the Holy Spirit in the glory of God the Father. Amen. Let us pray. O God, whose only begotten Son entrusted Mary Magdalene before all others with announcing the great joy of the resurrection. Grant, we pray that through her intercession and example we may proclaim the living Christ and come to see him reigning in your glory, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Reading from the Holy Gospel according to John. Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. She stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept she bent over to look into the tomb, and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. They said to her, Woman, why are you weeping? She said to them, They have taken my away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him. When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. And Jesus said to her, Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you weeping for? Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away. And Jesus said to her, Mary. She turned and said to him in Hebrew, Rabuni, which means teacher. And Jesus said to her, Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father, but go to my brothers and say to them, I am ascending to my father and your father, to my God and your God. And Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, I have seen the Lord. And she told them that the Lord had said these things to her. You know, if you're of a certain age, and I have arrived at this certain age, uh, you probably remember one of the most famous bands of all time, uh, certainly for those of us baby boomers, and that'd be The Beach Boys. And the Beach Boys had this very beautiful song, and it's called God Only Knows. It was released in 1966. It's a love song, and it's about dependence and gratitude and devotion. But there's this one particular line in it, and it says, God only knows what I would do without you. And those uh that line in that song has been a lot to me uh recently. And I want to tell you a quick story. Uh, this is not a unique story to me or my family. Uh it's one that most of you have experienced again, especially if you're of a certain age, but it could be even if you're much younger. Someone who I know, a friend of mine who have known for well over 50 years, recently died after a long illness. This was one of these guys who was just larger than life. You know, he was successful in business, he achieved much, uh, and he was extremely generous, not only to his family, but also to his friends. He was always there. And he's one of these guys that uh just was the life of every party. When he came into a room, you certainly noticed he was there. He had strong opinions, he was funny, uh, and and everybody just generally liked him. And then everything changed. He became ill. And what appeared at the beginning to be this single health challenge became a battle of serious challenges one after the other over a number of years. And you see, success could not cure him, determination alone could not cure him, and wealth certainly couldn't cure him. And as things started to disappear about these characteristics we knew about him, other things became much more visible. Through every setback, people walked with him. His family remembered, a member stayed by his sides, his friends stayed connected, and a special way the women in his life, his his wife and his daughter, were there to share the burden. You know, they attended his appointments, they sat through the difficult conversations, they listened, they encouraged, they certainly worried, and I know that they cried. And they accompanied him through fear, uncertainty, and suffering. And as his death drew near, there was less to do medically, problems couldn't be fixed, and the focus really shifted from curing to caring, and this is one of the great gifts that we can offer another to walk with them peacefully towards death. Now I wanted to tell you that story because it reminded me very much of Mary Magdalene. This feast day was elevated to a feast day in 2016 by Pope Francis. And the Vatican said this. Her love for the master did not abandon him in the hour of trial and suffering. Mary was there during the Mary Magdalene was there during the Passion. Father Ron Rohlheiser, who I had the honor to work with on a mission, said that the moment Jesus is arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane, it's as if he enters palliative care. He stops doing things and things are start happening to him. And Mary Magdalene and the other women were the ones who specially stayed with him through his suffering. They know that they could not remove that suffering, but they remained present. And Mary Magdalene is very much a companion. Not only a companion to Jesus as he went through this time of suffering, but to Mother Mary through her grief, and she shared in that. But there's one image of Mary, and it comes through in today's reading. The Eastern churches have this more than we do, and they call Mary Magdalene the myrrh bearer. She is the one who was bringing, if you remember the story, the spices to anoint the body of Jesus. Because you see, in death, this accompaniment didn't end. And often, as you know, when someone close to us dies, the funeral might be the most difficult part. She's coming to anoint Jesus as the myrrh bearer. It's a tie back to the wise men. They bring gold frankincense, and yes, this anointment, this oil that will be present at Jesus' death, it's a foreshadowing. Mary Magdalene's faith does not die when Jesus dies. She becomes the, even though the apostles are hidden away, Mary keeps searching, and that's what we see in today's reading. She comes. In the Song of Songs that was read in the first reading, it says in there, to the one whom my soul never leaves. She never stops seeking Jesus. And then in our reading today is the perhaps the most important turning point in all of the gospel. She encounters Jesus. She thinks he has been stolen, but she encounters but doesn't recognize him until he says one word to her. One simple word. It changes everything. Her name. Mary. And at that moment she recognizes Jesus and she becomes what is called the apostle to the apostles. She goes and announces that the Lord has risen. So Mary Magdalene, of all the saints, I believe, teaches us most about what it means to be faithful and present even in suffering and death. She stayed. She carried the myrrh. She remained faithful through all of that. And because she remained faithful, she was able to go to those apostles in peace. And she glorified the Lord by telling them that she had seen the risen Lord. God bless. Gathered now in faith and inspired by the witness of Mary Magdalene, let us bring our prayers to our loving Father. For all those whose names are entrusted to the Daily TV Mass Prayer Intentions book, and for the intercessions carried in the hearts of our community of prayer, that God may grant them strength, healing, and peace, we pray to the Lord. As our community prayer this month, let us give thanks for grandparents and elders like St. Jochum and Anne, who nurtured faith and family across generations with quiet strength. We pray to the Lord. For those who are still suffering or nearing the end of life, like St. Mary Magdalene at the foot of the cross, they may know the comforting presence of Christ and be strengthened by his peace, we pray to the Lord. For family members, friends, caregivers, health care professionals, chaplains, and all who accompany those who are suffering, that God may bless their compassionate service and sustain them with patience, wisdom, and hope, we pray to the Lord. Lord, you are our prayer. For all the faithful departed, especially those who have recently died, that like St. Mary Magdalene, who encountered the risen Christ in the garden, they may be welcomed by Christ into the joy and peace of the eternal kingdom. We pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. Heavenly Father, through your Son, you called Mary Magdalene by name and transformed her sorrow into joy of the resurrection. Here are the prayers we offer today, strengthen us to remain faithful in times of suffering and keep us steadfast in the hope of eternal life. And we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation. For through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you, fruit of the earth and work of human hands. It will become for us the bread of life. Blessed be God forever. It will become a spiritual drink. Blessed be God. Accept, O Lord, the offerings presented in the commemoration of Saint Mary Magdalene, whose homage of charity was graciously accepted by your only begotten Son, who lives and reigns forever and ever. The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Lift up your hearts. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just truly right and just our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God, through Christ our Lord. For in the marvelous confession of your saints, you make your church fruitful with strength ever new, and offer us sure signs of your love, and that your saving mysteries may be fulfilled. Their great example leads us to courage, their fervent prayers sustain us in all we do. And so, Lord, with all the angels and saints, we to give you thanks as an exaltation we acclaim.

Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the blood of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo, our Pope, and Francis, our bishop, and all the clergy. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy, welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with Blessed Joseph, her spouse, with the blessed apostles, Saint Mary Magdalene, and all the saints who are pleased to throughout the ages, we may merit to become earth to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him and with him and in him. Oh God Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. At the Saviour's command and formed by the divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily prayer, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. For the kingdom, the power, the glory, now and forever. Lord Jesus Christ, to set to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever. The peace of the Lord be with you always. And with your spirit.
