Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I am Monsignor David Rylander. The televising of this Mass is made possible by the contribution of the Paikade families from Oakville, Ontario, and Rosewell, Georgia. This mass is offered for the eternal repose of the soul of Thomas Pikaday, and in thanksgiving for blessings received, for the personal attentions of the Pikaday family and those of the daily TV Mass community. On behalf of all who are gathered for this sacred celebration, we thank the Paicaday family for the gift of this Mass. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. The grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you.

A reading from the book of the Prophet Jeremiah. So I bought a loincloth according to the word of the Lord and put it on my loins. And the word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying, Take the loincloth that you bought and are wearing, and go now to the Euphrates, and hide it there in a cleft of the rock. So I went and hid it by the Euphrates, as the Lord commanded me. And after many days the Lord said to me, Go now to the Euphrates, and take from there the loincloth that I commanded you to hide there. Then I went to the Euphrates and dug, and I took the loincloth from the place where I had hidden it. But now the loincloth was ruined, it was good for nothing. Then the Lord of the Then the word of the Lord came to me, Thus says the Lord, just so I will ruin the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem. This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who stubbornly follow their own will, and have gone after other gods to serve them and worship them, shall be like this loincloth, which is good for nothing. For as the loincloth clings to one's loins, so I made the whole house of Israel, and the whole house of Judah cling to me, says the Lord, in order that they might be for me a people, a name, a praise, and a glory. But they would not listen.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. Jesus put before the people another parable. So that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches. He told them another parable. Jesus told the crowds all these things in parables. Without a parable he told them nothing. This was to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet. I will open my mouth to speak in parables, and I will proclaim what has been hidden from the foundation of the world, the gospel of the Lord. For God did not find the kings of Israel to be appropriate, and the people to be his family. And so the kingdoms of Israel and Judah were formed. The Israelites were not behaving well, and they were sent into exile, and now the kingdom of Judah is left, and Judah is not performing much better. To the prophet Jeremiah, the Lord says, Take your loincloth and bury it and see what happens after a while. Jeremiah digs it up again, it's all rotted. The Lord is using this as an analogy for the people of Judah. As a loincloth, underwear, clings to our bodies. So Judah is to cling to the Lord, but it's like they've become rotten. And Jeremiah has been sent to warn them. The Lord wants us to cling to him, not to forget him as we prayed in the psalm. And he wants his family to become very big. And this is where in the gospel we have the parable of the mustard seed. I never really understood this until I went to Israel, and I was shown a mustard seed. I wanted to take a picture of it so I could show kids in school what it was like. And so the tour guide showed me a mustard bush, and then it happened to be in season at the time, and he took one of the seeds and he said, Could you put it in your hand? I want to take a picture of it. So I took my lens and I focused on his hand. I said, I can't see it. Are you sure it's in your hand? He said, Yeah, it's right here.

It was so small that it didn't show up in the picture. And yet it becomes a big bush. Something small becomes very big. You take a bit of yeast or leaven and you put it in flour and water, and the bread rises. The family of God is to rise, is to become big. But the Lord is losing his family because the people are forgetting him. We today have to make sure we do not forget the Lord. We say, oh, I'm not gonna forget the Lord. And then it starts with small thing, just like a mustard seed. White lies, getting lazy, not making the Lord a priority. And then it begins to grow and grow and grow, perhaps to the point of committing mortal sins, no longer thinking of the Lord, not going to Mass on Sunday, taking that time to give praise and glory to the Lord. So we need to pause. Here we are in the summertime, beautiful weather, fruits of the earth, but we still need to think of the Lord. How am I being a missionary disciple of Christ? Am I remembering the Lord? Am I praying? Am I being mindful of how I am loving others and forgiving others? Am I remembering the poor? Let us heed then the words of Jeremiah. Let our souls not begin to rot, but always on a daily basis, on an hourly basis, on a minute-by-minute basis, be conscious of the Lord. That's what clinging to the Lord means. Every moment of the day belongs to him so that we can belong to him. We rise to offer our universal prayer to the Lord. For all those in our daily TV Mass Prayer Intentions book, we pray to the Lord. As a community of prayer, let us give thanks for grandparents and elders, like Saints Joachim and Anne, who nurture faith and family across generations. With quiet strength, we pray to the Lord. For those who are suffering in mind or body, that they may receive the healing peace of Christ, we pray to the Lord. Lord, hear our prayer. For those who have died, that they may rest in the peace of Christ, we pray to the Lord. We pause to offer our own intentions. For these we pray to the Lord. Heavenly Father, we give you thanks for hearing our prayers in the name of Christ your Son, who is our Lord forever and ever. Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you, the fruit of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life. Fruit of the wine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink. Accept, O Lord, the prayers of your faithful with the sacrificial offerings, that through these acts of devotedness we may pass over to the glory of heaven through Christ our Lord. The Lord be with you. Lift up your hearts. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is truly right and just our duty and salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God, through Christ our Lord. Him you have been pleased to renew all things, giving us all a share in his fullness. For though he was in the form of God, he emptying himself and by the blood of his cross brought peace to all creation. Therefore he has been exalted above all things, and to all who obey him has become the source of eternal salvation. And so with angels and archangels, with thrones and dominions, and with all the hosts and powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of your glory, as without end we acclaim.

Therefore, O Lord, we humbly implore you by the same Spirit, graciously make holy these gifts we are brought to you for consecration, that they may become the body and blood of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, at whose command we celebrate these mysteries. For on the night he was betrayed, he himself took bread, and giving you thanks, he said the blessing, broke the bread, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body, which will be given up for you. For this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.

Therefore, O Lord, as we celebrate the memorial of the saving passion of your Son, his wondrous resurrection and ascension into heaven, and as we look forward to his second coming, we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice. Look, we pray upon the oblation of your church, and recognizing the sacrificial victim, by whose death you will to reconcile us to yourself. Grant that we who are nourished by the body and blood of your Son and filled with His Holy Spirit may become one body, one spirit in Christ. May He make of us an eternal offering to you, so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect, especially with the most blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, her spouse, with your blessed apostles and glorious martyrs, and with all the saints on whose constant intercession in your presence we Lie for unfailing help. May this sacrifice of our reconciliation we pray, O Lord, advance the peace and salvation of all the world. Be pleased to confirm in faith and charity your pilgrim church on earth with your servant, Leo our Pope, Francis our bishop, the Order of Bishops, all the clergy, and the entire people you have gained for your own. Listen graciously to the prayers of this family, whom you have summoned before you. In your compassion, O merciful Father, gather to yourself all your children scattered throughout the world. To our departed brothers and sisters, and to all who were pleasing to you at their passing from this life, give kind admittance to your kingdom. There we hope to enjoy forever the fullness of your glory through Christ our Lord, through whom ye bestow on the world all that is good. Through him and with him and in him, O God Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours forever and ever. Amen. At the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say, Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days, that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, Peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever.

We entreat your majesty most humbly, O Lord, that as you feed us with the nourishment which comes from the most holy body and blood of your Son, so you may make us sharers of his divine nature, who lives and reigns forever and ever. The Lord be with you. Almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Mass is sending, go forth to proclaim the word.
