SPEAKER_01Welcome to the celebration of the Daily TV Mass. I'm Father Hank van Meyle. The televising of this mass is made possible by the contribution from three donors. The first is Timothy Heidenberg from Laurel, Maryland, in honor of his son, Angelo. The second is Donald McDougall from Epps Fleet, Prince Edward Island, in support of the Daily TV Mass. The third is an anonymous donor from Mississauga, Ontario, in loving memory of her husband, Guy Kwang, in thanksgiving for blessings received and for the intentions of her family. Or thanks to her donors for the gift of this Mass. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen. The peace of the Lord be with you. And as we have placed ourselves before the Lord, just like Saint Dominic did about 800 years ago, knowing that he was weak, knowing that he needed God's guidance at every breath he took. You were sent to heal the contrite of heart. Lord have mercy. You came to call sinners. Christ have mercy. You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us. Lord have mercy. May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. And let us pray. May Saint Dominic come to the help of your church by his merits and teaching, O Lord, and may he, who was an outstanding preacher of your truth, be a devoted intercession on our behalf. True, O Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen.
SPEAKER_00A reading from the book of the Prophet Habakkuk. Are you not from of old, O Lord, my God, my holy one? You shall not die. O Lord, you have marked them for judgment, and you, O rock, have established them for punishment. Your eyes are too pure to behold evil, and you cannot look on wrongdoing. Why do you look on the treacherous and are silent when the wicked swallow those more righteous than they? You have made people like the fish of the sea, like crawling things that have no ruler. The enemy brings all of them up with a hook. He drags them out with his net. He gathers them in his saints. So he rejoices and exalts. Therefore he sacrifices to his net and makes offering to his saints for by them. His portion is lavish and his food is rich. Is he then to keep an emptying his net and destroying nations without mercy? I will stand at my watch post and station myself on the rampart. I will keep watch to see what he will say to me and what he will answer concerning my complaint. Then the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision. Make it plain on tablets so that a runner may read it. For there is still a vision for the appointed time. It speaks of the end and does not lie. If it cease to tarry, wait for it. It will surely come. It will not delay. Look at the proud. Their spirit is not right in them, but the righteous live by their faith. The word of the Lord.
SPEAKER_02The Lord sits in the throne forever. He has established his throne for judgment. He judges the world with righteousness. He judges the peoples with equity. You will never abandon those who seek you love. And those who know your name put their trust in you. For you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you. You will never abandon those who seek you. Sing praises to the Lord who dwells in Zaham. Declare his deeds among the peoples. For he who avenges blood is mindful of them. He does not forget the cry of the afflicted. You will never abandon those who seek you, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah. Our Savior Jesus Christ has done away with death and brought us life through the gospel.
SPEAKER_01A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. After the Transfiguration, Jesus with Peter, James and John came down from the mountain. When they came to the crowd, a man came to Jesus, knelt before him, and said, Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly. He often falls into the fire and often into the water. And I brought him to your disciples, but they could not cure him. Jesus answered, You faithful and perverse generation, how long must I be with you? How much longer must I put up with you? Bring him here to me. And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was cured instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, Why could we not cast it out? Jesus said to them, Because of your little faith, for truly I tell you, if you have the faith of the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, Move over here to there, and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you. The gospel of the Lord. Pretty strong language Jesus is using. If you have any kind of faith, you can say to this mountain, move from here to there. And of course, this analogy is pretty strong. But he really I guess he has a bad day after the high of being on uh having the transfiguration, this incredible spiritual experience. And usually after spiritual experience, we are if we have a deep experience, spiritual experience, we usually kind of look like depression. We feel a little down. And I presume Jesus had the same thing, he comes from down from the mount and he has to go back to real life, and here we are. And so he brings up the faith. If you had only the faith of a mustard seed, he's basically saying you're still faithless after all you've seen. And faith, I think, is about trusting in God. Can I trust in God? Can I trust that God will take care of me? And this is also a theme which in the first reading of Habakkuk we have Habakkuk, the prophet, who was really a contemporary of Jeremiah. He's also looking at the world and he says, How can the faithless, how can they do they just go on and they just feast and party and whatever and they don't care about nothing? How is it that you just stand by and do nothing? And but God says, in time there will be justice. In time there will be justice. And the justice came with the Babylonian exile when they were all deported to Babylon and lost all the nice pleasures of life. But faith, it's something, it's a gift of God. It's a gift of God, first of all, but we have to say yes to it. Yes, Lord, I want to be one of yours. May the Holy Spirit be, may I be possessed by the Holy Spirit, and may I be used for the good of others. And I think today we celebrate Saint Dominic. We have a memorial of Saint Dominic today, who lived 1170 to 1221. And he grew up in a time when the church was really a big mess. I was gonna say well, the normal people, the normal believers in the pew, they believed, but it's the higher Anchelon of the church, the bishops and so on, those were in leadership positions. They were just doing whatever. Just like in the time of Habakkuk, where the leaders of the people just were taking care of themselves and did whatever. It's something in a human psyche that we always want to be comfortable and we always trying to make things comfortable for us. And nothing has changed today. I see it in religious life too, where we can so easily become a little lax and we want to take care of ourselves. And it was a little controversial at his time. But he was one of those people who changed things, who brought renewal, a certain renewal in the church. He is actually also popularized the rosary. Some people say he came up with the rosary, but really, in reality, it was there already and he made it popular. And I think he used that very much so in the Albigentian heresy, which was in southern France and northern Italy at that time, where people kind of had veered off to the faith. Not that they did not have any faith, but it went away from the teachings. And it was kind of a Gnostic revival where they were thinking of a two-God system, you have the good God and the bad God, and it's kind of and you kind of can reincarnate after your death in the good God, and finally maybe you're gonna have reached salvation. Kind of a very strange teaching, but these teachings they creep into the church over time, and of course, we live in a spiritual world, and of course the devil is always at work, always trying to move people, and especially when the closer we come to God, the harder the evil one will try to move people away and come up with some ideas. And if if Satan can move us one way or another, he will. But Saint Dominic and the early Dominicans, they were able to bring some healing to it, and like I said, introduced the rosary as a way of bringing healing. But faith, it's good to look at it on our own level. How faithful am I? How open am I to God? Am I really trusting that God is in my life? Can I put give everything to God and whatever I have, house, bank account, whatever? Can I say God may be used for the good of others? I'm not saying give all your money away at once, but can I take some distance of all my worldly possessions and really put my trust in God? And especially this becomes very important in the last days when God is gonna call us home and to be people of faith. And when we be people of faith, then things will be okay. But faith, of course, God draws different people into the faith, and we have the examples, especially of the mystics, where we can see that battle between good and evil. Padre Pio was always under attack, for example. Or Gemma Galgani, who died in 1903, also always under attack, her faith always being tested by the devil. But of course, God is much stronger and God will persevere. And so it's good stuff to pray with. Amen. So let us bring our prayers before the Lord. We pray for all those in the Daily TV Mass Prayer Intention Book. We pray to the Lord.

SPEAKER_01We pray this month that Mary's assumption renews our hope of one day sharing eternal life with her and her son. We pray to the Lord. With Pope Leo, we pray this month that in large city, often marked by anonymity and loneliness, we find new ways to proclaim the gospel, discovering creative paths to build community. We pray to the Lord. On this memorial of Saint Dominic, we pray for vocations to vow religious life, especially for those who embrace the vocation offered by male and female branches of the Dominicans. We pray to the Lord.
SPEAKER_03Lord, hear our prayer.
SPEAKER_01And for these prayers and the prayers in the silence of our own hearts, we lift them up to you, Lord. Amen. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you, the fruit of the earth and work of human hands. It will become for us the bread of life.
SPEAKER_03Blessed be Lord forever.
SPEAKER_01By the mystery of this water and wine may become to share in the divinity of Christ who helped Himself to share in our humanity. Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you, fruit of the vine and work of human hands. It will become our spiritual drink.
SPEAKER_03Blessed be God for God.
SPEAKER_01That humble spirit and contrite heart may we be accepted by you, O Lord, and may a sacrifice in your sight as they be pleasing to you, Lord God. Wash me, O Lord, for my iniquities. Cleanse me of my sins. Thank you. Pray, my sisters and brothers, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God, the Almighty Father.
SPEAKER_03May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the grace and glory of his name, for our good and good all his holy church.
SPEAKER_01Attend mercifully to the prayers we offer you, O Lord, by the intercession of Saint Dominic, and through the great power of this sacrifice, strengthened by the protection of your grace, those who champion the faith. Through Christ, O Lord.

SPEAKER_01Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just it is truly right and just a duty and our salvation, always and everywhere, to give you thanks, Lord, Holy Father, Almighty and Eternal God, through Christ our Lord. For as on the festival of Saint Dominic you bid your church rejoice, so too you strengthen her by the example of his holy life, teach her by his words of preaching, and keep her safe in answer to his prayers. And so, with the company of angels and saints, we sing the hymn of your praise as without end we acclaim.

SPEAKER_01At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion. He took bread and giving you thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this all of you, and eat of it, for this is my body which will be given up for you. In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and once more giving thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying, Take this all of you, and drink from it, for this is the chalice of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. The mystery of faith.
SPEAKER_02When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again.
SPEAKER_01Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the bread of life and the chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your church spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Leo or Pope, Francis or Bishop, the Order Bishops, the clergy, and the entire people you have called your own. Remember also our sisters and brothers who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy, welcome them into the light of your face. Have mercy on us all. We pray that with the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with Blessed Joseph, our spouse, with the blessed apostles and all the saints, who pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ. Through him and with him and in him, O God Almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours for ever and ever. Amen. And at the Savior's command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say, O Father, who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day your daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespassed against us, and lead us not into temptation. Deliver us, Lord, we pray from every evil. Graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, for the kingdom of the power. Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your apostles, peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Look not on our sins, but on the faith of your church, and graciously grant our peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen. The peace of the Lord be with you always. And let us offer each other a sign of peace.

SPEAKER_01Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb. Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
SPEAKER_06My Jesus, I believe that you are present in this holy sacrament of the altar. I love you above all things, and I passionately desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come spiritually into my soul, so that I may unite myself wholly to you now and forever. Amen.
SPEAKER_01And let us pray. May your church, O Lord, receive with wholehearted reverence the power of this heavenly sacrament by which we have been nourished on the commemoration of Saint Dominic, and may your church, having flourished by means of his preaching, be helped throughout through his intercession. Through Christ, O Lord. The Lord be with you. And may Almighty God bless you, Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Amen. Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life. Thanks be to God.
